Not to get off-topic here, but is there a "racing" reason to have such a big e-brake like these have? I say this because my Fusion has an electric e-brake and has a very minimalistic switch that I think would really clean up the console area on these Mustangs.
As you can tell, I don't race so...
I can see if one of these units is more expensive for Ford to put in (if they had the know-how to design one) that they'd try to save some $$$ by going with the current transmission shifter, but there's no excuse whatsoever that they wouldn't give MGW a call to build every shifter for the...
Shouldn't it be an unwritten rule that "ordered" vehicles be at the top of the list for these PDI's? Seems to me that that their arrival is much more anticipated than all of the others that are just going to sit on the lot for a month or more.
By my math, a 15% reduction in power from the crank due to reciprocating losses would put you down to 378 from the factory reported number of 435 hp. So, add back up from the 415 you're at now and I'd guess your at about 477 hp. Not bad!
I sure hope the GT350 isn't a natural competitor to the 1LE. The 1LE can be had for less than $40,000. Does Ford have to build a $55,000+ car just to to compete with it? I'll bet the GT350 is superior in almost every measure to the 1LE (definitely will be more money).
I don't disagree with your comment about leaving out the non-functional bits to reduce weight, but again...that Hellcat engine bay is clean not because it has a bunch of plastic bits covering things up but clean because there isn't much of anything out of place or just "laying there." Look at...
The new Jaguar F-Type with the 5.0 supercharged motor has 550hp and 502lb-ft and is just under 4,000 lbs. It'll do 0-60 in 3.7 sec and the quarter mile in 11.9 seconds. With about as much power (but less torque), better traction, and probably 250-350 less lbs I don't see why the GT350 wouldn't...
I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I'd really like to see them clean up that engine bay. I realize that his is a pre-production car, but we saw pre-production 2015 GT's the 1st week of December(ish) last year who's engine bays turned out being identical to the production versions of the 2015 GT.
I couldn't agree more with this! If there is one thing I really like about the Dodge products, namely the Hemi versions, is that they seem to be much cleaner under the hood. You don't see nearly as much of the wiring, etc. as you do other manufacturers, especially Ford's Mustang.
People....all well thought out replies above. However, I think we should also keep in mind that Ford can, and has, surprised us in the past. Remember the thread a while back concerning Line Lock? It started out before we knew there was going to be a Line Lock feature and many here did not think...
