The first time I brought my 2011 GT to the dealer for the 1st oil change they put in 5 quarts even though the 5.0 in that year went to 8 quarts; they just didn't know. When I bought my 2018 the oil capacity went to 10 quarts, when I brought it to the dealer for the first oil change they put in...
Per your suggestion I did a little research on the GM 10L80 and I do see aftermarket pans with a standpipe. I also saw one Youtube video of a 10-speed 2021 GM truck with an original equipment pan that had the standpipe. Trying to figure out if the aftermarket pan will fit a Ford 10R80 and if...
Everything you say is true. What I'm hoping for is one of the aftermarket makers of aluminum transmission pans would incorporate it into their pan. They may have to move the drain plug and enlarge the hole but other than that the mechanism for the tube is quite simple.
I have a 2018 that takes 10 quarts. The total length of the dipstick from where it bottoms out on the tube, see picture, is 1 ' 8 & 3/4". The full mark is at 1' 7&3/16", the low mark is at 1' 7&11/16"; once again see the second picture. Of course the reading depends on how far your dipstick...
Anyone who has tried to check the transmission fluid level on the Mustang 10R80 knows how hard it is to do because of the location and the hot catalytic converter. I'm pretty sure prior Ford transmissions had a standpipe built into the pan that let you get the fluid to the correct level by...
Some fix, remove the whole pan. When I bought my first Mustang, 2011 GT, I had to tell them it took 8 quarts as that was the first time a 5.0 took 8 quarts; they looked at me like I was crazy. When I took my new 2018 in for a free oil change they knew it took 8 quarts, problem was that now it...
I agree that anyone that buys a car as an investment that they think will go up in value is risking money that they could have invested and more that likely made a better return. So unless you are a multi-millionaire, like Jay Leno, who buys cars for his collection to enjoy them, you are...
Well if you have a list of things you can't live without it's going to be hard, and when you find it, if you can, you will probably pay top dollar for it. I liken this to picking a wife. Make a list of thing you want and then circle the 3 things you must have, all others are just nice to have...
Any high performance car was probably driven hard so here are my rules for buying a used car. I only buy them from the original owner and the older the owner is the better. Also the wealthier they are the better as they probably maintained the car. I never buy a used car from a dealer or used...
I like the idea of buying the dipstick you installed but when I look on Amazon it says it is for a truck. I assume it works OK with your car since you have it installed. Do you find that it a high enough quality to withstand the heat it will get from the catalytic converter right next to it...
When I got done the hole was pretty ugly and not exactly round, I should have put a metal plate over it for future access but I patched it with some fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. My biggest mistake was not buying a metal trans pan, to replace the plastic one, with a drain plug in it when I...

You will laugh when I tell you my story about getting that filler cap off for the first time. About 2 years ago I decided to change the transmission filter, this was at about 40K miles. Now I have more tools than 95% of the people on this planet but I could not get a socket, box end or open...
I'm 75 years old so I know exactly what you mean and I love all the improvements that you listed. Against my better judgement I even ordered the electron dash in my Mustang which I love, but when it goes bad it will probably cost me a $1,000 to fix. Thankfully Ford gave me the option of it or...
A high end car should have both. An electronic readout can go bad but I have yet to see a dipstick stop working. Granted that most people who have expensive cars will not go under the hood to check their oil but until we replaced my wife's Mercedes with a new car I checked the oil all the...
I've seen those remote dipsticks for trucks with the 10r80 but never for a Mustang. I agree with you that the only way to calibrate it correctly would be to have your trans at the correct fluid level before you install it and adjust it to show full from there. In order to save a few bucks on...
