Doesn't seem out of line but mines a manual, so no direct experience. These transmissions use some fuzzy logic and learn your driving style, in particular settings. There is a reset process to restart the learning process, someone with better knowledge may be able to assist.
Regards your Sync...
That's the exact path I followed when having my Anderson Composite unit installed. No template supplied but downloaded. Cant help with other costs as I had other work done & the spoiler clear coated and well I'm In Oz.
Agree with GTP, good information in the forum. There are some delays & differences for Aussie cars. Personally I've been running the https://cyanlabs.net/ updates to Sync & maps for a few years now with no issues.
Went with Cyanlabs on my Sync 3 system a few years ago, with the map upgrades. Seemed to jump 2 dealer years in map updates. Using AndroidAuto with Waze via wireless dongle now, so not fussed with map updates.

If the car is unmodified and well maintained I think you'll be OK. My July 2017 manual build has been custom tuned & parts modded at about 6 months. Now at 135,000km I'm upgrading to a Monotune head-gasket for peace of mind & a head check/clean by my tuner. She's a keeper!
Mine's a full CF panel. 90% certain Anderson Composites but may be Ford Performance, as the distributor sells both. Purchased when my OEM pony 'bolted' from its panel, leaving ugly holes.
The Evap Purge Valve and ultimately the Carbon Canister can fail to due over filling of the fuel tank i.e. going beyond the first stop. This can result in rough idling after startup. Not sure this is why the car won't run but could be one route to check.
Sorry you're having these issues. Is you car lowered? If so, this can limit the available camber adjustment. Needs to be corrected with additional parts for front & rear.
