I did a simple upgrade that keeps the stock airbox. I don't race the car just wanted better power and sound.
I replaced the resonator with an x-pipe. Installed an Airaid MIT on the stock box and an AEM dryflow filter.
I bought a SCT X4 tuner alone for $298 shipped and installed the 93 octane...
You won't gain enough hp to tell it. Car does sound better. I got the CJ Pony aluminized x pipe on sale for $84. I had the outlet pipes welded on and used the factory clamps in the front. I have stock mufflers, no drone.
I Have the Airaid MIT with the AEM dry drop in. Don't like K&N they don't flow worth crap. Car pulls hard to about 6500. It's a 6 speed. All I have so far is the SCT canned 93 octane tune.
I went with the CJ Pony aluminized x-pipe for under $100. Welded in.
No rasp or drone.
Don't know on h-pipe but I happy with the X. It has the sound I like when I get on it.
Welded on the back end is the way to go.
Must have, resonator deete xpipe or hpipe. A good quality axle back if you want even louder pipes. Next step CAI of some type and a tune. Lots of options there.
Oh, and hood struts.
Yes, $298 last Monday. I had it by Thursday and loaded the tune and changes from stock on Friday. No problems or issues.
Vendors sell out then relist. Two wereselling at that price last week. If I decide to make more aggressive mods later I can buy the tune I want then.
I learned long ago...
I went with SCT. If you go with Lund ngauge you can only use Lund tunes from now on. SCT is open to many tuners. Also you can get a SCT with 3 canned tunes for $298 on eBay. I did the 93 octane tune and can tell a difference with my minor mods and a few car specific settings. Very easy to update...
Interesting, so far I just have the Airaid MIT with the stock airbox and SCT preloaded 93 octane tune.
I can tell a difference from stock and it pulls hard thru the powerband. I was going to try an AFE filter after I run this a while. Don't like K&N.
No stumbles, but I have no idea what I'm...
My statement is completly correct as stated. Period!
With HP Tuners' ngauge you can use ANY custom tuner with HP Tuners' software.
With Lunds' ngauge you are married to Lunds' tune.
I just installed just the Airraid intake tube on the stock box with factory filter and no tune. My only other mod so far is x-pipie.
Early yesterday the intake temp avgeraged 80 degrees with ambient at 75 degrees.
I was moving most of the time on local roads.
So far I like this option...
