Correct, I have actually already done the work retrofitting the existing PCBs but frankly speaking, they're a lot of work. And I have been thinking for a while about potentially repurposing the buttons.
For instance, the nav button or the horse button on non-premium cars.
At the end of the...
So there's a couple different plans I have.
First and foremost, I plan to redesign the resistance ladders to make them plug and play for 05-09, 10-14 vehicles. My car is a 2013 that I swapped the steering wheel on ages ago. I replaced the resistors and changed the ladder ages ago, but the I...
Hey Guys,
Steve from MyElectronicMechanic. I've been working on some cool projects in the background, one specifically, that required me to redesign the pcbs that sit inside the steering wheels. I plan on eventually releasing them into the wild.
Just figured I'd share a preview to gauge interest.
Hundreds of comments, not a single response from the seller, Amazon link no longer works. Product was probably taken down due to complaints of false advertising (not working)
db hasn't been around for several months, but I will help you since I actually used this guide to a certain extent to retrofit a 2022 steering wheel into my 2013 and have the heating element function.
Assuming
Let's assume you made this harness. Basically, for the 12V+, you are going to want...
I hear you. To be honest, I only started compiling this as a method of sourcing the connectors via retailers. I hate HATE splicing wires. I much prefer to slide in a plug and play harness in between where there is a male and female connector available. I don't own a 6th gen actually. But I used...
Hey guys,
Updated the formatting since I wasn't happy with how it looked before. Added in wire colors to make it easier to identify the wire you are looking for.
Hey Guys,
I recently did a video where I added a ribbon cable for additional wires to an S550 Clockspring. I'm doing this for a project of my own but figured I would share with ya'll an option for doing this.
My guess is that it either held in the plug or it's holding in the socket. Either way, that's in rough shape.
With the condition of the recepticle in those pictures... All 3 of them really. I'm convinced that the previous owner didn't have hands and was forced to use their teeth. I have no...
Quick update for everyone.
I went to a couple shops.
Basically the summary was:
The plastic pieces that are replacement pieces must have been hydro dipped. They show signs of hydro dipping, NOT any sort of wrap.
We scrutinized the new (replacement aftermarket piece) and the part I wanted to...
Hey guys
Mods, first and foremost, I most humbly apologize if this content is not allowed here. I'm trying leverage every option possible to find a solution.
I have a Ford F150 that I am restoring. I am working on replacing the interior panels that are damaged or destroyed.
One particular...
I went back and took a look.
Theoretically, you are correct
.....physically.... You seem to also be correct.
Welp, still looks fancy to me and I'm 5'5". Gimme that big wheel with a flat bottom any day of the week!
Hey guys,
Figured I would share this with you folks. This video was created as part of my adventure to get a heated steering wheel in my car. As part of that, I needed to completely deconstruct how the clockspring assembly works, including how the assembly stalks work.
From 1:00 to 5:35 in...
Am I missing something or maybe not familiar. What is the difference between these? (aside from the inner diameter grips?)
I'm legitimately trying to understand what you mean by the spokes staying the same and adding corners? Is it the thickness?

Hey guys,
In my heated steering wheel adventure, I have gained a tremendous amount of experience with the s550 clockspring. This video is a complete teardown to make you less afraid to handle it.
Hope it helps
So, as has been noted in the other thread that db252 made.
The 2015-2017 never came with the option for the heated steering wheel OEM. Which means it's going to be missing all of the hardware on the dash side and clockspring. You WILL need a new clockspring to support the wheel above and get it...
