    I just put a swing on mine and it took me less than an hour, and 45 minutes was checking and double checking the template. After that, used a punch and drilled the holes, install was easy. I would by a drill and a punch and be done with it.

    You should be able to unscrew the knob without breaking anything, maybe hit it with a little heat before you try again.

    Check your battery ground connection as well. If it was replaced maybe there is a loose connection.

    First post nailed it. Adjust the lock nut up if there is one, or get a nut and the knob will tighten against the nut. No locktite needed at all.

    For me, the yellowing IS everything wrong. If it can be corrected to perfectly clear, fine, but that will cost money each time. Maybe will spend as much over the years continually correcting it as just buying OEM. Hence the saying buy once cry once, but to each their own.

    Do you need new valve cover gaskets or just need to tighten the bolts? I have heard of cars where the valve covers bolts were barely tight.

    Thanks. I had replaced my shifter boot with a red stitched one when I changed the knob and reverse lockout collar.
