  1. Another oil replacement question...

Yeah, I'm a loon for believing a guy who is an actual lubrication engineer and runs an oil analysis company (data driven by actually testing wear metals in used oil) instead of the guy who: Calls himself Rat 540 Uses a widely debunked engine oil testing method Can't tell you the details of his...
  2. Another oil replacement question...

No need to state the obvious! That happened the second you put 5W-30 in it because of some blog you read on the internet written by a complete loon. I cannot stress this enough: do not run 5W-30 in your Voodoo. So first of all, a cross plane crank will improve reliability a LOT. A lot of...
  3. Another oil replacement question...

There are plenty of things you can do for this engine to increase actual longevity that will void your warranty. I feel like this should be an obvious statement, but perhaps not.
  4. Another oil replacement question...

Lake is a well-regarded Tribologist (a lubrication engineer) and owns a company that does oil analysis using atomic emission spectroscopy. Your guy "Rat 540" is.... not. He's some guy on the internet that bought a $300 abrasion tester and doesn't even use his real name. So attention anybody...
  5. Another oil replacement question...

So uh.... first of all, can you post your chassis number? The one on the passenger side dash. I just want to check something. Second of all, that guy is recommending 5W-30 and not 5W-20 just through a cursory scroll. Third of all, the RANDOM use of ALL CAPS by that guy and his borderline...
  6. Another oil replacement question...

I love their "Severe Gear" bags of gear oil. Makes it sooooo much easier to fill a diff. I really hate that they aren't up front about what they're doing regarding whether or not they meet manufacturer and API specifications. It confuses a ton of people, even really smart people in this...
  7. Another oil replacement question...

Nope, they don't say they meet it. You're quoting the same thing I'm quoting. They never claim to meet the spec. They say "Use AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil in applications that require" followed by a whole laundry list of specs and approvals which they do not have (including...
  8. Another oil replacement question...

It's right there in your GT350 owner's manual supplement. Again, Amsoil doesn't claim that their 5W-50 meets Ford spec WSS-M2C931-C. They say to use their product in applications that require that spec. Amsoil words it that way for a reason. If it met the spec, they would actually say...
  9. Another oil replacement question...

I've never seen either a virgin oil analysis or used oil analysis of an Amsoil product make me think "wow, this is garbage." They tend to have pretty good additive packages. That said, their marketing is weird and the way they word things leads a LOT of people to believe they are doing exactly...
  10. Another oil replacement question...

Amsoil is weasel-y about how they word things. They don't actually have the Ford certification, and the majority of their oils do not have the API certification for that matter. Here's how they word it: Notice how they don't say they actually meet the spec or are approved? Just "use in...
  11. Need new clutch OEM or Aftermarket?

I don't think they do. Never heard of 3rd gear lockout in a GT350-spec TR-3160. I shifted mine at 8000+ into 3rd all the time, and heel-toed down from 4th to 3rd at higher RPM a good amount also. Never a single problem.
  12. TIRE GAUGE RECOMMENDATIONS

I have used one of these Joes Racing gauges for several years without issue. Still reads true enough (within about 1/2 PSI of what the TPMS claims, anyway) and I generally have no complaints. https://www.amazon.com/Joes-Racing-Products-Increments-32317/dp/B079Y9LFLW/
  13. Oil Overfill Concern After Recent Oil Change – Seeking Advice

My dipsticks on the GT and GT350 were always a bit tough to read, but reasonably accurate if this advice is followed: Fully warm the engine. Park the car on a LEVEL surface, turn the engine off and wait 15 minutes. Pull the dipstick and wipe clean, then dip it and measure. That will keep your...
  14. Is my Full tank of 190-200 miles normal. or do I have an issue?

Looking back at my Fuelly logs for the GT, the most I ever put in the tank at one time was 14.8 gallons. The tank is 16 gallons, so that was probably with the needle on or just about to hit E, which leaves you with a gallon in the tank if the car gods have been kind to you. I remember seeing...
  15. 15-17 conservative exhaust upgrade

It's not a lot more for the cat-back and it drops a significant amount of weight too. You also have the option of bolt-in swapping the touring resonator for the X-pipe that comes with the Type S exhaust, they will sell them to you as an individual part you just have to call them and explain...
  16. 15-17 conservative exhaust upgrade

    I had the catback. https://www.borla.com/products/ford-mustang-gt-cat-back-exhaust-system-140589
  17. 15-17 conservative exhaust upgrade

I had a Borla Touring on my 17 GT. I absolutely loved it. Wasn't raspy or insanely loud, but it sounded good. Amazing going under overpasses with the windows down. Not droney going down the interstate with the windows up in 6th. The cold start will be a bit loud, but you can't get away from...
  18. 2023 Mach 1 --> Steering wheel BOLT??? Not 24mm but T-50 TORX head..........

I'll make this pretty simple for those who haven't installed TTY head studs or bolts: If the instructions don't state to turn a certain number of degrees, and you're just using a torque wrench and leaving it at that, it ain't torque to yield.
  19. FL2087 or FL2087A

Ah yes, the time-traveling FL-2087-A that was introduced in 2024 and then went back to 2021 and took out a GT500 engine. A classic! So many pictures exist. Guys, the FL-2087-A is purpose built for the GT350 and GT500 application just like the FL-2087 was. The FL-2062, which was OE on the...
  20. Accurate Oil Dipstick pull

Brother, do not overthink this. These cars have two and a half gallons of oil floating around. You can be down two quarts and not really have a problem outside of extreme track use. If you see oil anywhere above the bottom hole, you're good. Check it fifteen minutes after shutting the car...
