The 981.1 GT4 sounds pretty damn amazing, too... though they neutered the new one a bit thanks to European emissions, even though it revs higher. In terms of handling/grip, the Cayman (depending on trim) is almost certainly better, but again, that doesn't necessarily equate to fun.
You may be...
I think even if you were going to the track, the Cayman wouldn't be objectively "better". Faster? Of course, especially that GTS, but not necessarily more fun. And even as far as overall speed, compared to a base, manual Cayman, it would come down to the driver probably 90% of the time.

I don't mind the slightly dated interior. It still looks really nice to me, and I know it will be comfy as hell, and super high quality... It has great sound deadening, an amazing sound system, and supports both Android Auto and Apple Carplay, so what else do you need really?
The transmission...
I feel like these differences, while they are real, are greatly exaggerated. Not just in objective and measurable ways, but especially in how much they affect your day-to-day enjoyment of a vehicle... Either way, it's still a pretty different car. Personally I'd probably lean more towards a...
Well of course, isn't that true of all of us? Hah... actually maybe not, some people (maybe a lot of people) choose cars to impress other people, or choose them because other people convince them they should like a particular car... but I digress.
I'm just explaining my preference, to see...
Hmm, well to each their own, but as someone who has owned a 981.1 GT4 for six years now and had a 2015 GT for seven years that will soon be upgraded to a Mach 1, there is almost nothing that I can imagine a base 718 Cayman having on a Mach 1 other than obviously better handling characteristics...
The GT4? Or the regular, base Cayman? I just realized the latter was even part of this video, which does make things slightly more interesting, especially given the pricing of these two cars in Europe (though of course it's a very different looking comparison in the US).
Lol how is this even a comparison? People are running out of cars to pit against each other I guess...
I love both cars (which is why I own them both! although my GT4 is older and slower than the one in this vid, so my Mach 1 might have a chance once it gets here), but I don't think anyone in...
I'm not trying to make light of your situation, but the #YOLO argument is exactly why people should try to make responsible decisions, heh. We don't have any re-dos in life...
But overall, I would agree. If it's a weekend car that you're buying purely for fun and relatively minimal mileage, why...
Is that bone stock??? The wheel gap and offset is incredible... I thought the track was narrower up front, and the fenders stuck out over the wheels as a result in other pictures I've seen.
That looks awesome!
There's exceptions to every rule, and I could see a car like the Wrangler lending itself more easily to build changes than a sports car, but I won't claim to be an expert on the matter.
I forgot to consider resale value. Yeah, if you want a collectible toy, the GT350 is far more likely to hold its value if you don't drive it much (although the Mach 1 might not be TOO far behind -- as someone brought up there is likely to be fewer of them, and may well be the Coyote's swan...
In fact you can get a brand new Mach 1 for 6-8% less than MSRP via Granger Ford and Chapman Ford here on this very forum  ... But also, I'm pretty certain that the pandemic has blown up prices of the GT350 just as much as (if not more than) the Mach 1.
Aw lawd, we're about to re-open this can of worms...
I have only fairly briefly driven a GT350, and I don't yet have my Mach 1 as I painfully wait for it to ship from the dealer to home. That said, given my experience with the Shelby, my previous 2015 GT PP, and a 2018 GT PP I've driven (as...
Do you remember how much it cost you? After @glmarker mentioned the $5K deductible, considering the lead-follow style and my prior track experience, I'm heavily leaning towards "fuck it, not worth it". I can "insure" myself at that price. The value just isn't there unless the premium is quite cheap.
That's not the case in my GT4. They're not exactly racing slicks. They have a relatively progressive dropoff IMO... But I mean if you've only ever driven in all-seasons or something, yeah, it could be quite an adjustment.
Ah, I wasn't sure on the price for one thing, but a couple hundo might be worth it... I'm used to prices from places like Lockton where to insure the full value of a Mach 1, you're talking about probably a grand or more IIRC, and that's still with a 10% deductible. At that point, the expected...
I'm a lil late here, but do any of you guys who have registered for this bother with the insurance they provide?
I usually don't even bother with insurance for my own car when I got to HPDEs, but it feels like slightly less comfortable when driving someone else's for whatever reason...
