  1. Any concern about Florida sun damage over time for the roof?

I’m not a fan of tinted windows but I think in the sunny south they are a good idea. Check your local regulations and then tint to your wife’s preference up to that maximum. Then get her a windshield shade for the car, preferably one that is an exact fit (I think Covercraft makes one). Also...
  2. Winter Storage Hood Prop Suggestions/Advice

Exactly how I did mine and works great. You can even shut the hood tight if you want, which is what I do when we do our winter getaway.
  3. Battery tender on PDC?

The tender I have came with two sets of leads, ring and alligator. I attached the positive ring to the positive lead into the fuse box on the inner right fender, and the negative to the strut tower where the other grounds are. The latter places it in a position that doesn’t interfere with the...
  4. How to clean my convertible top?

Don’t know what happened to my earlier reply on this…lost in the ether perhaps? In any event, the glass lays flat as you drop top and the section below the glass remains flat, although at an angle to the bottom of the glass as it is attached to the body higher up.
  5. Caught Off Guard!

My brother and my sister-in-law drove down one year to visit her relatives in TN. He was driving a ā€˜73 Vega GT on ā€œwide ovalsā€ at the time. They’d been driving on a dusting of snow and somewhere along the way they came upon a bunch of flashing lights and state troopers. The trooper he spoke to...
  6. "Service tire mobility kit" alert came on

Oddly, I have not received this message. I had the dealer supply the factory spare kit when I bought the car (new). I have the kit in a box in the trunk so I have an air pump. I wonder if the dealer went in and changed something so the car knows there is a spare?
  7. Would you get the Stick or Automatic

I bought an automatic for two reasons. First, I was concerned that my knees would preclude clutching at some point of my intended long term ownership, and second, while my wife can drive a stick, she prefers not to, and I wanted her to be comfortable driving the car. The reality, 7+ years on...
  8. Caught Off Guard!

You need to oil spray and just drive it. I’m in the west end of Toronto and the last months I missed driving top down were January and February of 2022. Before that I don’t remember, probably in 2019.
  9. How to clean my convertible top?

Yeah, you may get some bounce even around town. The picture is the stay that can disconnect.
  10. How to clean my convertible top?

Are you driving at highway speeds with the top up/windows down? There are also two stays in the top which connect about halfway up the sail to the middle of the glass, which are known to disconnect. This would be quite obvious as the top would be sagging there.
  11. Piece Hanging In Trunk

If the tabs are broken, it will drop right back out. If not, you may have just bumped it with something that you put in the trunk enough to pop it out.
  12. Piece Hanging In Trunk

Tension strap for the top. You need to drop the top slightly to put back in place. There are plastic tabs that snap in place. You may find that one is broken…and this is why it is dropping out when you lower the top. Luckily, there is a small hole in the deck that matches up to a hole in the...
  13. Windows are not going down automatically with the roof

As noted, putting the top up is working as it should, i.e., windows do not raise automatically. If you put the top down, and raise all windows, do all windows drop if you raise the top (they should)? If you get the same result as when putting the top down (backs drop, fronts don’t), my thought...
  14. Auto levelling headlight issue

ā€œThe more they over think the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drainā€. Lt. Comm. Montgomery Scott These are the things which have me considering getting rid of my ā€˜18 and buying a vintage Mustang. Headlight sealed beams for $18.
  15. Convertible Sticker Shock

Wow! That would in excess of CDN$100K. That is over double what I paid out the door for my well optioned Ecoboost in 2018. You get to that level and there is a lot of choice. Or you could buy a vanilla daily driver and a vintage Mustang.
  16. Winter Storage First Timer - Any Tips?

When I was storing my TR8 in my parents’ unheated garage, I cut a piece of vapour barrier 12-18ā€ larger than the foot print of the car all around and laid it down on the concrete. When the temps fluctuated around the freezing mark, you could see the moisture that came up through the floor on the...
  17. Hands-free Calling Issue

Check your Bluetooth settings for your car pairing in your phone to ensure it is set for calls. Try restarting your phone if it hasn’t been restarted in awhile. Try deleting your phone and then pairing it with the car again. If you have access to another phone (wife/kids/friend) that can be...
  18. Convertible Rocker Stripe

I had thought about something similar to the 68/69 Mach 1 stripe (without the Mach 1 lettering, of course) but haven’t found a stripe that includes the rear portion. On an unrelated note, if I ever come into money, I’m buying one like this photo.
  19. Convertible latch difficult to rotate closed

Mine was moaning a bit closing. So I sprayed all the hinges on the Fre
  20. Interesting issue with front windows

My ā€˜18 drops all four windows when I press the top down button. I would have thought that this is the case for all S550s. Maybe there is a requirement to program after replacing the motor?
