Low 12's at 116??? And sub 3700 lbs... Dang. GM came out swinging!
Be interesting to see what Ford is going to counter with. This will be almost like 2v vs ls1 again
The old 1Le already out handles the new GTPP, and the new SS is said to out do the old 1Le.
The base 350 and new SS will be very close.
The old Z06 smatters both the z28 and 350R.
You're right on one thing. Lightweight and down sized are different. Downsized can actually be better for straight line performance, as the closer to the axis rotating weight is, the less it affects acceleration.
I'm guessing that people who opt for this package aren't going road course...
Yeah... Giving lots of options is a good thing. Something Ford was always good at with the mustang. A bare bones car with power.
And if you want more options, order them.
Losing rotating weight is a much bigger advantage than static weight. Out on the axles the performance gains are roughly x4 of static weight.
If GM offers a lightweight, small rotor package with 18" rims, they could easily be 6+ lbs per tire.
That's 24 lbs, x4. That's a tenth and MPH...
Not at all.
Straight line enthusiasts often chastised GM for not offering a low option, cheap base car with the good drive train.
Having models ranging from stripped to full load is a good thing.
Internally the c7 Lt1 and the SS LT1 are identical. Same cam and everything.
Some C7's have ran up to 11.4 @ 120 mph hero runs. The camaro won't do this. It will be roughly 400 lbs heavier. That can translate to 4 tenths and 4 mph slower.
Look for an lt1 auto to be running mid 12 mag...
