Exactly! With a proper tune, you won't damage your engine with the stock IC, but the stock IC will heatsoak much quicker than a good aftermarket IC, and once an intercooler is heatsoaked, it is useless, and you will lose 10-15% power. So, if you are in boost frequently enough that the IC can't...
I have never seen any data that shows that you are doing any damage, long-term or otherwise, to your engine running a good tune with the stock intercooler. If you have any, please share it. Obviously, the tuner needs to know that you are running the stock intercooler, as well as any other mods...
Thought you guys might be interested in this video, [ame]. In the first 3:30 they show the performance mods, pretty much just simple bolt-on mods, this guy made to his EBM, and the resulting HP and TQ increase made with an Unleashed tune. I've had Torrie's tune now for about a year, and I'm...
I think you're safer installing the ground strap above the CC bracket. That way, the ground strap is directly contacting the bolt that is screwing into the grounded metal body of the car.
Thanks Ron.
That is a big freakin' plus as far as I'm concerned :hail:. I'd still like to see some performance data before I pull the trigger, and I'd love to pull the trigger before the sale ends. What are the chances of that happening?
The Mishimoto also has a diverter in the end tank to maximize air flow through the IC. The main difference I see between this and the Mishimoto is that this is slightly larger, and yet slightly less expensive. It looks like a really well built unit, in fact, the design looks a lot like the...
Juben, I've seen enough of your posts to know that you know what you're talking about, but I'm curious why you say you would choose this IC over MAP and Mishi when AFAIK there isn't any performance data on this IC and there is ample performance data on both the MAP and Mishi ICs that show they...
Only negative I know of is that if you're tuned for the increased octane, and it suddenly stops flowing you have greatly increased chance of detonation. That's why it's important to have, at the very least, a system to warn you if that happens.

I honestly think you can't go wrong with any of them either.
I have an Unleashed tune by Torrie and I love it. Zero issues. At the moment, all I have is a CAI. Although the stock tune was fun, I noticed 3 minor problems with it; When I floored the accelerator, there was a slight but...
Interesting. I always planned to get my tune adjusted for the new WGA, but I thought that this WGA used a plain vacuum source, not the vacuum source from the EBC. I can see that the ECU could get confused by behavior of this WGA and not control it properly.
Thanks.
How can you overboost? Don't you just hook up a vacuum source to the WGA? If that's so, the tune doesn't control the WGA at all. It just takes advantage of the improved behavior of this WGA vs the OEM WGA. Or am I missing something?
I find this socket+extension works great; http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/gear-wrench-5-8-x-6-magnetic-swivel-spark-plug-socket-80546d-80546/25984192-P?searchTerm=magnetic+spark+plug+socket&zoneAssigned=1&prefZC=78628. Never have to worry about a rubber insert going bad, getting lost...
To put it another way, the ECU is smart enough that, if you are coasting to a stop in gear, it knows that the wheels are turning the engine and it doesn't need to inject fuel to turn the engine. It does this until the wheels are turning the engine less than about 1000 rpm. Then it starts adding...
So, Adam. aftermarket IC has always been high on the priority list for the EBM. However, if both WMI and IC are on your list, and you can't get both at once, and WMI is going to cool the intake charge above 6 psi, would you put the WMI in front of the IC, or even in place of the IC? Thanks.
