My rears lasted just over 7k miles, and that's with 3 trips down the 1/4 mile and not using the line-lock or burning out. 30/70 hard mountain driving, and normal commute.
I did my Premium bumper upgrade for under $800. But it's good to see some options finally for the base bumper guys that don't want to swap to the premium.

Get the matte black one from mmd and have it painted gloss black. That's the "second best" option.
You could just pull the emblem and wrap the decklid and hope the holes don't show.

Are you talking about the diffuser that's paint matched on the Premium bumper? The part under, that the valence surrounds? I'm sure there are ways to paint it a contrasting color, and pull it off tastefully, but it'd probably require some matching parts. Like wheels or mirrors for example...
