  1. Maybe a new GT

I am with you on this. Mine has the tick, which has turned into a knock, the rattle and now pings. It's been at the dealer 2 weeks and their conclusion is that it's all normal. I like the car, but the engine sound is so bad that when others comment what is that sound, it's not good. Knowing...
  2. What’s the purpose of having a black roof?

I originally did not like my black roof- reason is black attracts heat and with hot FL sun it burns paint off of cars. But the rest of the car is cool reflective white and it offsets the white nicely. And it also matches the nice black wheels. So I have grown to like it.
  3. Knocking at Idle and Pinging

Went to the dealer on Friday. Met with the SM and the GT tech. The tech was an older guy, very experienced, the SM was very young. The tech explained that he for sure heard the rattle- loud and clear. But they did not listen for the knock at idle or the pinging. Must have got lost in the...
  4. Odd experience with tailgating yesterday

I get this a lot in my Fiesta ST and also in my past Miata ND. I got rid of the ND as I felt I was picked on a lot with it being such a small car. The problem in the ST is that on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift I have people tailgating me and almost ramming me in the back when I am shifting. They are...
  5. Knocking at Idle and Pinging

I am still waiting for diagnosis. I called yesterday and for some reason they could not give me an update. I hope to get a call back today.
  6. Knocking at Idle and Pinging

It's a cost issue and availability for me. Regular is 2.59. Premium is 3.20 right now. When regular goes up to 3.00, premium will be 4.00. And also before and after a hurricane when gas is in short supply it is difficult to get premium here in Florida. Last hurricane my WRX had to sit a...
  7. Knocking at Idle and Pinging

Yes, this is my thinking and why I am having the dealer check it out. The engine did not make these noises when new. The ticking started and got louder to a steady knocking at idle, then the pinging started. It burned 1 quart of oil from new to 3K. So far from 3K no more burning oil.
  8. Knocking at Idle and Pinging

Only 5500 it's in my post. Also I have changed the oil at 3K.
  9. Knocking at Idle and Pinging

My 2018 GT is at the Ford dealer for diagnosis. The type writer tick has turned into a knocking at idle and the rattle or valve clatter at 2300 RPM is more pronounced and does it even when warmed up now. It is also pinging- when I start off in first gear I hear a little bit of pinging. When I...
  10. Well, add me to the unlucky list.

Wow, sorry to hear. If it's not totaled, definitely do a diminished value claim. I know what you mean about concerns after the repair. When my 2011 Mazdaspeed was nearly totaled I did not want it anymore and traded it in smashed up. I lost a lot of value but got a new car.
  11. E85 Prices going up?

Crude oil is on the rise so expect gas prices to rise a lot within the next year. I paid 3.19 for 93 octane yesterday and expect to pay 4.00 or over in 6 months. My Fiesta ST runs so much better on the 93 versus 87 or 89 and I will eventually bolt on some mods and tune the car to 93. I get...
  12. 2 month impressions '19 GT manual

My Mustang GT will also be my last Ford. While my Fiesta ST has been absolutely great and my GT has no rattles at all the engine ticking, valve noise on mine and the fact that so many others have it too will discourage me from buying another Ford. I don't think highly of Chevy either after my...
  13. New Mustang Owner - Help (Driving Tips)

Simple....light right foot, gentle take offs, drive at steady speeds, don't need to floor it everywhere. Drive your car easy and it will reward you and stay new and you will get excellent gas mileage also.
  14. Help buying 18 GT used with 10k miles

To better describe the rattle It's like a valve train clicking noise that gets loud between 1800 and 2200 RPM most noticeably when the engine is cold. It's definitely in the engine and not the drive train as it will do the noise in neutral as well. The noise dissipates as the engine warms up...
  15. 2 month impressions '19 GT manual

You are lucky not to hear the ticking and rattling- hopefully you never will. I may have to downsize my fleet for financial reasons and debating whether to part with my GT or FIST. The engine 2-3K rattling sound may make the decision for me.. Other than the noise the car has been great so it's...
  16. car max appraisal

This sounds about right for CarMax. I have an 18 GT base with 5K miles and I'm tight for cash right now working on a restoration and thinking very hard about leaving it at Carmax. I paid 30K new and I'll bet they give me 18K, then sell it for 25K. This is their business model to a T.
  17. 18 vs type r?

I test drove one a couple of years ago and it did not wow me for some reason. I did not like the fake engine sound in the cabin. And probably since I had a 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 which I loved until it got totaled. I would still have it if it didn't get totaled. I'm finding that it's very hard...
  18. 18 vs type r?

I almost bought a used Focus RS with 5K miles before I bought my 18 GT. The head gasket issue had not been addressed and the dealer didn't accept my offer of 35K for it so for it. I opted for my brand new GT which I got for 5K less.
  19. car max appraisal

I sold one car to CarMax and had another one appraised within the last 5 years. The one I sold was a 2016 Miata ND, I bought brand new for 31K. It was only a year old with 13K miles on it and they gave me only 22K for it. Another car I tired to sell in 2015 but the offer was too low was a...
  20. 18 vs type r?

I am still thinking of something that combines my GT with my Fiesta ST and get down to one car. Some you may laugh but I think the GT is too fast while on the other end my Fiesta is too slow. Type R and also Veloster N are both right in the middle. I am looking for reliability and a no issues...
