From what I can tell, FRPP previewed a traditional, rear-feed Eaton R2300 TVS unit earlier this month, and not a front-feed 2.9L Whipple. It's my belief that Whipple and Ford Racing, at least for the 2015+ 5.0L supercharger kit(s), have parted ways.
Oh, and for the 2011-14 Coyote, Ford Racing...
Thanks for the information; I was unaware that, other than the supercharger head unit, both the Roush and FRPP kits are identical. Looking at each kit again in pictures, though, I can definitely see what you're saying.
In regards to the design of the case, I was referring to the as-cast...
In that both the Whipple and Roush superchargers displace 2.3L per revolution of their rotors, the physical size of their respective cases is probaby similar if not identical. The design of each case, though, is where you'll spot differences.
It appears as though Whipple has been supplanted as supplier for the S550 5.0L Coyote supercharger. Judging from the above picture, the 2015 5.0L supercharger's case looks identical to Roush and VMP's respective Eaton R2300 TVS units, so I'm assuming FRPP followed suit.
Like thePill said, you absolutely have to see the 2015 Mustang in person to appreciate it. While the Magnetic convertible video came close to conveying the S550's "badassness," nothing is like seeing the car in the flesh. Even the front end -- an area where I was very concerned initially --...
I was bemoaning its inclusion in the next-generation SVT Mustang because of how horribly the MT-82 shifts in my 2011 5.0L. While I'm confidently hopeful the 2015 Mustang's shifter addresses the widely-known issues with Getrag's MT-82, it's going to have to get a whole lot better, in my opinion...
Motor Trend's professional race car driver doesn't seem to agree,
"With a brake upgrade, the Mustang is going to be the better car for track work, and probably a better car on the street, too, because the Mustang is better-balanced. The Camaro has more understeer through the middle of a...
Like I've stated before, I believe it's way, way too early to declare a winner in the 2015 Mustang vs. 2016-17 Camaro comparison, but it is fun to postulate. I believe Ford's engineers are just as capable as General Motors' and S550 will be more than capable of holding its own against whatever...
We all know how this works. The next-generation Camaro, whenever it's released and whatever platform it rides upon, will undoubtedly outperform an S550 Mustang that's been on the market for some time. Ford will respond in a year or so; Chevy will counter that response in a year or two and...
How dare you post an articulate response complemented with logic and facts! No, you've been deemed "jealous" by Mustang6G's resident knower of all. It's best you just let it be...
:D
I wasn’t referring to the S550 Mustang’s aesthetic when I stated that very little is known at this point about “S550”. No, in keeping with a context germane to the conversation you and I are having, I was referring to the platform upon which the sheetmetal, the suspension, the powertrain and...
From what I can tell, we still know very little -- nach, virtually nothing about S550. Sure, the designers may have opened an S197 assembly in their 3D modeling programs when they started out, but to assume anything at this point would be premature, IMO, especially when Ford brass have stated...
No one outside of Ford -- with the exception of the companies tasked with putting miles on test mules and, maybe, some outfits with which Ford has close relations -- have driven the S550 Mustang and, already, some are dismissing it against a future Camaro that, outside of GM and its suppliers...
