So, I just got this '15 GT a couple weeks ago and it had this carbon fiber decklid panel on it. It's scratched up a bit and I generally don't like the look so I was looking at decklid panels.
Fortunately, I discovered that it was just an applique held on with some fairly weak double-sided...
Since piston rings and cylinder walls aren't perfectly mated at build for any engine it takes a little bit for the rings to wear to the exact shape of the cylinder walls and there's no gap between them for oil and combustibles to escape.
I would figure it's been mostly broken in by 14K, though.
I know there will be suggestions of other exhausts here, but let's make believe I'm not even looking for an exhaust.
I just want to know what's actually different between the Ford Performance/Borla Exhaust Touring M-5200-M8TC and the Touring EC-type M-5200-M8GC?
I know the EC-type will be a...
Man, your exhaust hangs better before your fix than mine does. However, the more I look at the one that's currently on the car, the more I just want to tear it off and beat on it with a hammer Office Space style. LOL
Which Gibson did you get and what do you think of it?
These are a couple pics...
Just to add a picture I finally got to take today, in case you're wondering how low the existing exhaust is.
You'll notice that the passenger side clamp is different... It's also welded to the pipe and positioned so that you can't get to the nuts due to the underside of the car being in the way.
Long story short, just got a '15 GT (my '12 GT got totalled because some people don't understand stop signs) and I was only given one key fob. It's got a CAI, it's lowered, and it's got what is possibly the jankiest installation of an MBRP exhaust in history (who welds the clamps to the...
Bumping an ancient thread on this one, I know... Sorry, but I literally have the same exact issue.
Just got a '15 GT that has a CAI, exhaust, and a tune on it. I haven't actually called a dealer about this, yet, but I'm doing my research first.
Is it the dealer BSing in this situation or does...
Living in North Jersey there's strangely not a lot on there. It's either stuff that's cut up and dented, stuff that the seller forgot to remove, or stuff that would be more expensive than most of the aftermarket stuff.
My wife's '11 Edge SEL needed a new engine just shy of 75K because the water pump barfed into the oil pan. Fortunately we bought the warranty from the dealer after we bought out the lease and this happened with less than 100 miles left on the warranty. Everything was completely covered and the...
Plus the fact that the previous owner welded clamps to the pipes... Yeah, it's janky. 🤪
I'd love it if I could find a fairly fresh '15-'17 takeoff cheap and then maybe think about axlebacks in the future. I'm just trying to keep it simple and affordable, but I'm open to options that fit right...
Regarding the system that's in the car right now, it's not even the fact that it's not quite lined up but rather that it sits lower than the factory exhaust by a few inches, and that seems to be how it's designed. That would be fine if the suspension was stock height.
If you go through customer...
Most certainly, but also sadly not within my budget at the moment.
The car runs and is fine for now, so I can try to save, but they also said the welds on the the hangers would eventually break again.
The Meineke I brought it to suggested a whole new exhaust since the one that's on the car was also welded in very odd ways, including one clamp that was welded to the pipe. He tried to sell me on him building me an exhaust for $1500. LOL
I've been looking around but I haven't seen anything near me. My brother's friend knows people in the local Mustang clubs around here so I have to ask him, but I've been busy with my sister's wedding on top of insurance, doctors, and my lawyer due to the untimely death of my '12 GT.
I'm in...
I haven't, yet, but as I said above my available payment options may make a lot of used stuff difficult.
I'm kinda looking more for info on parts that fit the spec. I will look at the marketplace, though, just in case something is workable.
I'd like to keep the rear valance stock. Also, I'm probably looking at not being able to pay cash for anything, so new options are probably better for me at this point.
What midpipes have the factory-style fit without causing anything to hang too low? I would imagine at that point that it would...
