Finally, everything is done. I'm picking the car up today. It took a day longer because the tech had to order a throw out bearing. Don't know why, but whatever. Start to finish on this thing was something like 38 days, so not too bad I think considering some of the horror stories I've read on here.
I asked him about bearing clearance and he said he didn't take any measurements. Oil pan was still on but even then, I don't know if they would oblige if I asked.
I actually went up to the dealership unannounced to check on things since this is taking way too long. They lied to me when they said I was getting a long block. All I got was a short block like everybody else. The first thing I saw was my old block with no heads. At least they have the new...
Update - Finally got a hold of someone since my previous service advisor either got fired or found a new job. They said my long block came in on Friday and they were hoping to have it in sometime this week. I specifically asked if it was the entire engine and they said yes. I really hope my new...
I changed oil at 3K to Mobil 1 5W-20, but used a factory filter. Issue did start when I was on factory oil though.
However, good news. Dealership called me back and said an order for a long block was put in yesterday!!! Hopefully Ford doesn't give them too much crap for it since the advisor...
Yeah, I'm thinking something up with rods or bearings as well. I'm at 4500 miles, but the sound started at around 1000 miles. I didn't think anything of it after researching the tick, but like you said, it seemed like all the actual BBQ ticks were just random ticks that didn't increase with RPM...
I'll try and ask, though my service advisor hasn't been overly helpful. No idea how they isolated it. I asked and my advisor said they figured it out once the oil pan was dropped.
Finally got an update today. They pulled the oil pan, found no metal. The service advisor said they isolated the tick to cylinders 2 and 3. He said their next step is to cut open the oil filter and check for metal, check the rods, and check oil pressure. I should have another update on Tuesday...
Holy crap, did they not give you crap over aftermarket parts? I'm probably going to be in the same boat soon and would love to get them to install OPG and CS while they're at it.
Also, did you push for a long block and how much push back did you get? You'd think if the next step was heads that...
Just thought I'd make this thread to chronicle what is going on with my ride and its BBQ tick.
Monday 8/6 - dropped car off in the morning, tech did not have diagnosis that day.
Tuesday 8/7- service advisor called me in the afternoon, said they think it's coming from the under body and not the...
I found this thread from a search and was wondering if you ever took her back to the dealership. I have a 2017 as well with a similar tick that's very pronounced and increases with RPM. I'm really dreading taking this to the dealership after all the horror stories. At first, I thought something...
I've done hours and hours of reading on this tick and most people say it's a completely random tick that doesn't change with RPM. However, mine does and past 2k RPM you can hardly hear it because it's ticking so fast. Anyone have the same experience?
I bought these from this exact seller off of another forum memeber's recommendation and they work just fine.
