I think break in is a throw back to olden days. The rings should seal right after first engine start. Follow the mfg's recommendations and maintenance schedule and use a good oil (not necessarily a boutique oil) and drive it IMHO.

As most of us know tires always present compromises so you have to chose what is important to you for your driving and what performance aspects you can live without. For my daily drivers I run AS and winter because I am not willing to make compromises. Its a pain having to store a second set...

Mixing tires is fine until you get into a situation such as bad weather or an emergency maneuver. Some tire shops have refused to do it due to liability. I was at a tire shop and witnessed the worker refuse the use of their air line to a woman saying she was late and needed to fill her tire...

I'm sure most of us would be surprised as to how little Ford pays for tires and how much they fret over $50 (or less) in cost.
