  1. CAI help!

The Track Day (450-331) version is meant for track use only where as the Syntha... filter versions are meant for daily driving use. Honestly I think the big difference is just the type of filter being used. If you can wait a few more months there should be more CAI's available from other...
  2. upgrade just speakers

Just finished installing JBL GTO629's in the front and rear this weekend - quite an improvement all around :D. I'll get some details/pics together sometime soon.
  3. BBK shorty headers concern

How long/how many miles ago did you install the shorty headers? Also, did you use the BBK supplied gaskets or OEM?
  4. Are shorty headers worth it?

I also weighed the BBK ceramic headers (~12lb 10oz) before getting them installed and the OEM headers +shield + 2 shield bolts afterwards (~14lb 6oz) coming out to ~2 lbs saved. Not as significant as I thought but still a positive - rusty headers are deceiving :ninja:
  5. Are shorty headers worth it?

Alright, got the BBK ceramic headers installed today by a local shop in about 2 1/2 hours. They really seem to help low end torque and sound slightly - maybe improve over time? I ended up buying new OEM gaskets as they appear to be significantly better quality than the ones BBK provides...
  6. Wish Metra would hurry up on a dash kit for our cars

I typically only upgrade the stereo unit in my vehicles and call it a day (can get a bit more life out of the speakers). In this case, unless you plan to drop a ton of cash, upgrading the speakers seems to be your best bet. Not to mention when the aftermarket kits are forced to screw around with...
  7. Attracting every moron

Morons everywhere here in northern VA... the kind that cut you off out of the blue or don't understand what turn signals are... the kind that drive trucks with quarter sized rocks in their bed/trailer (just recently got some paint chips)... the kind that sit 4 car lengths behind driving or...
  8. Steeda S550 Hood Strut Giveaway!

Congrats to the winners but wow, when you said "feel free to get creative" you really meant it haha. The third one didn't even follow the criteria :p
  9. JLT S550 V6 CAI

Just heard back from JLT: "We have not started it but do plan on bringing a v6 kit to market this year". :headbang: If they are designed as well as their GT / EB kits I'd probably give one a go even without a tune. Much farther down the road I'm sure this CAI would respond well to a tune.
  10. A/T fluid swap/flush?

Not sure about it being a "lifetime" fluid or not but I don't think you need to worry about it any time soon. Most mechanics I've talked to (the ones you can trust) agree that you shouldn't do any kind of transmission flush unless something forces you to.
  11. So I noticed a few people trading up on their 2015

    Welcome to the interwebs!
  12. 4 days in with my EBM A/T

Yeah, I'm surprised as well and I think it has to do with "making" the light almost every time. S197 AT had 2.73 gears I believe whereas mine has 3.15. Maybe a slight bump for getting to speed quicker around town I'm guessing.
  13. 4 days in with my EBM A/T

Gotcha - just curious if you happened to test drive it and had feedback about it vs. your S197 3.7. I test drove the EB/V6 and they both had a similar driving experience yet different characteristics so to each their own. Apparently the S550 3.7, while not much has changed for the engine, feels...
  14. Charge phone from USB port

If the phone died you probably need to give it a few minutes to get a good enough charge for full functionality or your MFT was glitching. Bluetooth should not make a big difference so you might want to try it again to confirm.
  15. 4 days in with my EBM A/T

Here we go again... Anyway - z6cyl out of curiosity did you test drive the S550 V6 as well?
  16. Does anyone use royal purple oil

I've heard great things as well but I've been using full synth Valvoline for the last few years because it's cheap and seems to work without problems so far.
  17. intake air temperature

Unfortunately that is the downside to chrome headers - they can add heat under the hood even versus the OEM ones. Running full synthetic oil wouldn't hurt either.
  18. Fan noise

I actually just noticed this today when I remote started the engine - sounds like a small air plane getting ready for takeoff (100 degree day today). It seems like the fans will automatically hit max RPM to adjust based on interior temps and then can dialed down once inside.
  19. Placing S550 on stands

There's also arrows at each lift point on the plastic under the rocker panels.
  20. intake air temperature

Did you buy the chrome or ceramic BBK headers? I'm guessing the ceramic ones would drop temps by a few degrees.
