My solution was to buy a set of take-off calipers off of Ebay. They were only $50 + shipping and when they arrived they were in like new condition.
If Ford sold a rebuild kit, I doubt it would be much less than $50 and then you still have to rebuild them. Seems extreme to replace a caliper for...
FWIW my biggest disappointment with the S550 is the MT-82. I find it noisy and rather clunky.
The 10 spd has been lauded by the press in other applications.
That said, I won't buy a car without 3 pedals.
I think I made that about as clear as mud.
Track and Autocross place similar demands on a car. However, tracks typically have much higher sustained speeds and much longer run times and put additional stresses on the vehicle.
I've only done track days, but would probably still increase my service intervals likewise for autocross.
Castrol SRF Racing Brake Fluid is the bomb! But boo-coo expensive and probably over kill for a first time track day event. I'm currently running Motul RBF600 with no issues and ran my first few track days with stock pads and fluid without issue. It will be an issue later for sure.
Change the...
52,000 miles on the car, roughly 2k of that is track miles over 16 track days in 2 years. Never insured it.
The way I figure it, tracks are much safer than the street any day of the week.
1st track day of 2018 is only 2 weeks away. Can't wait!
I bought one of these: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-Universal-200-Piece-Standard-SAE-and-Metric-Mechanic-s-Tool-Set-with-Hard-Case/1000046233
It's been fairly effective. Molded case, everything snaps in, very simple to find what tool is missing. Slim case fits in the trunk well with jack...
From reading other threads, my understanding is that most idle issues are related to fuel quality.
My EB will idle very inconsistently immediately after re-fueling as it works out the OAR.
Or they've never been on track but want to look like they do.
I would think a non-functional tow-hook would be even more dangerous than not having one.
I was putting on my winter wheels and tires over the weekend and noticed my hub rings were missing.
I poked around the internet on this very subject just the other day. From my reading, the hub spacers have nothing to do with holding on the wheel and tire centered, they are there to ease the...
I am 6'7" with a 34" inseam, in other words, I am all back.
I bought the Mustang because head room wasn't an issue, that is until I got a helmet for track days. It's still not a huge issue. I recline the seat a few clicks more than I do for street driving. I than actually have to move the...
Anybody figure out how to deal with the airbag light?
I've been thinking about a race style seat, but this is my DD too and I'm afraid the airbag light would really bother me.
Personally, I would avoid the Michelin Pilot Super Sports or the 4S. Awesome tires, but I have corded the outside edge on two sets in as little as two track days. Given that you have noticeable wear on the outside edge of your current tire even without having been on track, I'd look for...
Just Go!
The one thing that will make you faster than anybody else on the track, is the mush between your ears. There is nothing more important that you can add to your car to make it faster than many, many track miles. Repair and improve as necessary.
You are headed in the right direction...
In the last 16 months I have done 13 track days with my EBPP.
I have used two different tires. The Michelin Pilot Super Sports and the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's. (275/35/19 square)
The track I run on most often (Waterford Hills) has proven tough on tires. I have corded the outside edge...
Any clutch or transmission work while the engine was out?
I've installed an aluminum flywheel on my ecoboost and can't believe the racket it makes. Sounds like a diesel at idle.
It will be coming out soon.
I have a HPDE coming up this weekend.
I took a whiff of my helmet yesterday and it can only be politely described as "effervescent".
I don't thing the lining is designed to come out for cleaning on my particular model.
Any suggestions on cleaning, prepping for this upcoming weekend...
