Both ports open at different rates. There is a video on YouTube where a guy puts a camera in the exhaust tip and you can see that regardless of which mode the exhaust is in both sides open and close just at different rates for the different modes

Any 12 long tip with a 4 inch OD will work. The ID doesn't matter as it will be cut off. Cut to 5 or 6 inches, and the stock tip will slide into the rolled edge and it will simply look like the inside of the new tip.

I just replied in another thread but a few of us bought 4 inch tips from eBay and cut then to 5 inches and slid them over the stock tips and welded the back. Looks very good in my opinion and keeps the stock active exhaust

If you go the original thread, you will see what I did. It was not that big work. I bought 4 tips from eBay, and went to an exhaust shop where they cut the tip to length, slid them on and tack welded the back. Really very easy.

If you read back you will see what we did. The ID is irrelevant because the stock tips are 3.5 inches, so you need a 4 inch tip that you will cut to size and slide over the stock tip

I covered it with fresh touch up paint the dealer mixed for me. So the holes got filled in case any oxygen was getting in there. Made it smooth now. Hopefully it stays this way for years . If love to see how yours looks
