  1. Fossil Fuels are Not the Enemy

A lot. For example the refinery I work at has over 14,000 heat trace circuits. I don't know why they shut down but I assume they had no choice. Shutting down is the last thing you want to do when it gets cold. I wonder what their minimum design ambient temp is.
  2. Fossil Fuels are Not the Enemy

It sounds like socialism to me. “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.” Margaret Thatcher
  3. Fire extinguisher mountings

I made a bracket and mounted a Halon extinguisher in front of the passenger seat in my old Porsche. I'm sure you could probably buy a bracket. https://www.rennline.com/Rennline-Quick-Disconnect-Fire-Extinguisher-Mount/productinfo/FE12/
  4. Installing BMR camber bolts / torqueing bolts

Just the top bolt per the instructions. The big tab was pointing to the wheel initially. Now it points inwards and I can get 1.5 deg neg camber.
  5. Fossil Fuels are Not the Enemy

After seeing some of the fabulous US Engineering ( such as some projects by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers ) I would be surprised if anything had been overlooked but you never know. By the way, some of the new electrical infrastructure in the US has EMP shielding. I am not sure whether we...
  6. Installing BMR camber bolts / torqueing bolts

Dumb question....it seems to be that after getting the desired camber I would need to remove the wheel, caliper and disc to properly torque the bolts. Is this what an alignment shop would actually do? ps I had to do the opposite of what the BMR instructions said to get more positive camber and...
  7. Post Pix of your S550 with aftermarket wheels and tires

I just installed these...Forgestar CF10 19x10 with Michelin AS3+ 285/35/19. The car is lowered on Steeda progressives. The rears poke more than I thought they would. Its the best pic I can get until spring. The rear camber is a little excessive as I haven't adjusted that yet.
  8. Frustrating to park it all winter

Its -26C this am and I missed my annual trip to Sedona and Scottsdale (for the 6 auctions) :crying:
  9. Covid Shots

I might be able to get a shot mid 2022 assuming the virus is still around
  10. 5w-20 vs 5w-50

Define cold? The difference is small above freezing temps. (0W vs 5W). Today I am starting my vehicle at -26C with 5W30. 5W is a common grade up here. I wouldn't fret over it.
  11. So long, and thanks for all the fun - goodbye GT350R, hello Porsche 911

I think every high performance car has potential issues and Porsche has had their share. You make a good point about weight different ~600 lbs. Right now I am enjoying the Mustang as its an excellent modern muscle car but I hope to get back into the Porsche world one day.
  12. 5w-20 vs 5w-50

Just go with a mfg recommended viscosity...5W30 for example. The first number, 5, is somewhat irrelevant if you don't have cold starts.
  13. Mustang Newbie Needs Advice

I just went with this exact set-up which is a popular one. Just be aware that many tires are not symmetrical or are directional and can't be rotated diagonally only back to front/front to back on the same side.....if that matters to you.
  14. Mounting rings for speaker replacement

My JL Audio C3-650 fit fine with the Metra adapter. You have limited depth on the backside too so measure twice and cut once :)
  15. 5.0 50k miles overdue for oil change.

If its in that shape I would be scared to try a flush. Just change the oil and hope for the best. Its too late to be worrying about the engine now.
  16. Alignment after suspension modifications- No Go

Some shops will only align to what the machine tells them for your car. I'll refrain from getting into the tech vs machine operator rant I have gone on (techs understand how the vehicle works and can troubleshoot and operators do what the software tells them to do). You have to find a shop...
  17. Seat care/how much if any of it is real leather?

I don't think you can treat a heavily coated leather seat. You can only clean it or coat it with something else.
  18. Seat care/how much if any of it is real leather?

Its a bit of a stretch calling vehicle seating leather. What you see and sit on is heavily coated and treated.
  19. Fossil Fuels are Not the Enemy

Yep. Every decision is based on either money or power although up here getting a gold star from other world leaders seems to be important. Science just complicates the issue. Call me cynical.
