Go big or go home. Hero 4 Black if you're willing to pay for it, the 4k can be cool if you know what to do with it.
mustang_guy has a good point also. I have a Hero 3 Black and my video comes out just as good as any 4 footage any of my friends have gotten.
Last time I did it on my old Mustang I used a simple green spray.
Sprayed down the engine, used simple green on it, let it sit for a bit, then washed/cleaned it off. Looked good as new.

Snapseed and Camera+ are my two favorite iphone camera apps.(not sure if they're available on android)
There's a feature in camera+ that enables a "stabilization" setting where you have to be pretty still for it to actually take...
Traded in my 07 with 43,xxx miles when I handed over the keys, so I guess you could say I did quite a bit of daily driving with my 1986 K5 Blazer for a while, and the car got put away for winter (parents lived in CT).
For now this is my only vehicle, 3.5 months and 2,881 miles as of right...
