Hey Lorne34, thanks for taking the time to type this up and I really appreciate your perspective on it. I've always loved convertibles. My 2016 GT ragtop is my third and my favorite for a number of reasons. I'm going to offer my impressions as a point by point response to what you offered...
The last car I bought, I bought used. Every car I've bought before this was bought new. The main reason I give for going that way is first, I absolutely know the history of the car, how it's been maintained, and I don't risk buying someone elses problems. Second, I tend to keep my cars longer...
Door movement? I can't say I've noticed any body movements in the doors on my 2016 GT convertible. Then again, I'm not usually looking at the doors themselves but I can't say I've felt anything in that area either. I have seen some flexing through the dash area but only on very rough...
I did change ratios but I didn't go the way most folks would think. I bought the car used from Carmax because it had all the options packages I wanted. Up to that point, I hadn't seen one configured this way and believe me, I've looked. Anyway, I found a web site that I could order a copy of...
Totally agree with that sdiver68. I tried spraying the first couple of times I used it and it didn't seem to do anything. Not to mention all the overspray, masking or not. Brushing insured good coverage and the end result was much more satisfying.
The oldest S550's are only about five years old. Even with no extraordinary upkeep, they should be good for a few more before showing anything abnormal. I've got a good friend and he and his wife have kept convertibles for the last 15+ years and they exercise their top virtually every time...
Hi Guard GT,
I've got a 2016 GT too. I was doing a change of rear end ratios at about 17k miles. The car had been quiet up to that point. I had found a good deal on a differential assembly so all we were doing was a parts swap. When we got the car up on the lift, the rear tires were down to...
I started learning to ride around late 1968. My first love with motorcycles has been long distance touring. A buddy of mine and I checked off a bucket list item in June of 2017 with a round trip ride from the Texas Gulf Coast to Alaska and back. It was great but since then, I've been less and...
I checked mine when this thread first appeared and it looked too much like the original pictures posted here. I pushed the hose up closer to the fluid reservoir and so far, it's stayed there without any other additional help.
When I need to reapply the 303 or West Marine products (I've used both and they're pretty much the same), I wash and dry the car in the afternoon, let everything dry, then apply the top protectant and park the car in the garage overnight to allow that to dry. First thing in the morning, it's...
Be patient. It takes a while for the top to dry and those uneven color spots will resolve themselves after it dries. Try to avoid letting the top get wet until the 303 is fully dried. After, you should find that water beads up and rolls off the top quite nicely.
The 303 is very good. I also found a fabric protectant at West Marine. It's basically the same thing as the 303 and is a bit cheaper. The West Marine store I was at sold both their product and the 303 so I could compare them directly. I tend to agree with Tim_ that the added UV protection is...
I swapped the rear diff on my 2016 GT convertible w/ MT. I bought the car used and it came with the optional 3.55's which was the one option I really didn't want so I found a complete differential off of Ebay for $430 with the standard 3.31 gears and took a chance. A mechanic friend of mine...
So how would you describe the change in sound? I don't really have a problem with the sound tube. I haven't found it particularly inconvenient when checking the oil but the tube itself does seem to clutter things up.
That looks really good! I agree with MaskedRacerX, that works very well on the bright colors. My GT convertible is white so leaving them black to blend in with the top still works for me.
Well, I don't know about "all" of it, but certainly he would have gotten a lot more of it in the trunk. I've got a 2016 Mustang convertible and I've been pleased with the size of the trunk and I do appreciate that I can fill the trunk to the brim and still drop the top if I want to but I have...
I've got a 2016 GT. I've run multiple tanks of regular and premium. I'm not one who pushes the car hard enough for premium to make that much of a difference most of the time but I do tend to think it that by the butt dyno, the premium is helping. The other thing I think I notice is, the...
