  1. Help me in choosing my next mustang, gt or ecoboost?

I've run 93 octane in my 2016 GT almost exclusively. The owners manual says to run that for best performance but also says that 87 octane is perfectly ok. After a year or two of ownership, I did run about a half dozen tanks of regular just to see if I could tell the difference. Honestly, I...
  2. Help me in choosing my next mustang, gt or ecoboost?

One minor correction, Sync 3 wasn't available on the S550 until the 2016 models. It's not compatible with the 2015's.
  3. Help me in choosing my next mustang, gt or ecoboost?

Well, it's a given that most here are going to point you toward the V8. I get that, I've got a 2016 GT that's still totally stock. Here's my take based on my experience with my GT and what I've read about the EcoBoost since it came out in the Mustang in 2015. 1. As others have said, it's...
  4. Recaro seats YES or NO ??

I have found the stock seats to be very comfortable, better than I've had in a car in a very long time. That's not saying my previous cars were totally bad, just that my 2016 Mustang has proven to be noticeably better. I can understand the Recaro's if you're into tracking the car which is...
  5. Why DIDN'T you get a camaro?

For me, there were a number of things. First and foremost, I wanted the convertible. While I like the look of the Camaro convertible and I like the fact that it's got a one touch operation and can be operated while the car is in motion, neither of which apply to the Mustang ragtop, I was...
  6. Here's a trip meter picture you don't see every day!

As others have pointed out, that's the cruise control display when the car is optioned with the adaptive cruise control. I can set those bars from one to four and that adjusts the following distance the cruise control will maintain behind the car in front of me. The crossed out 47 is the speed...
  7. Here's a trip meter picture you don't see every day!

Those are obviously the total miles on the car. I bought it used from Carmax with 6610 miles on it so I'm coming up on 40,000 miles that I've actually driven the car. Overall, the reliability has been pretty good. I've had better cars but I've also had a lot worse. In my time with it, I've...
  8. Here's a trip meter picture you don't see every day!

I imagine that by most folks standards on this forum, I do have a light foot. For me, by that, I mean, I don't lay rubber off of every stop sign and red light I meet. I just drive the car normally, cruising speed limits to speed limits plus five or so. That's not to say I don't play with it...
  9. New 6.8L V8 Engine Coming For Mustang in 2022?!

Does this mean we can disregard all the rumors about how the V8 is a dying breed?
  10. Poor gas mileage question

What Elp_jc said! Trips that short are killer on fuel economy. For one thing, the engine never fully warms up in just three miles so the mixture is always a little on the rich side. That, coupled with stop and go driving and it's a miracle you're still getting in double digits!
  11. Here's a trip meter picture you don't see every day!

I bought the car used from CarMax on November 3, 2017 with 6610 miles on it. I reset trip 2 before driving off the lot. I haven't touched it since. Today, I rounded 1000 hours of driving time. The mileage represents 39430 miles that I've put on the car.
  12. Poll: Hard top mustang convertible

I love convertibles, always have. I've always known that if I ever bought a Mustang, it would be a convertible, and it is! I have nothing against hard top convertibles in principle, but in application, most of the time, I'm not impressed with them. They add a lot of weight and complexity that...
  13. What other cars did you consider before you decided on your Mustang?

For me, there really wasn't any other option. I had never owned a Mustang and was at a point that I wanted to get one. I've always known that I'd buy one sooner or later and with the release of the S550's in 2015, I was hooked. I also knew I wanted a convertible. I've owned two before my...
  14. 2019 Mustang GT (Manual) auto rev matching

When you downshift a manual, you need to blip the throttle to bring the engine rpms up to where they're going to be in the lower gear. Doing it correctly means a smooth downshift that's easier on the drive train and much more comfortable for passengers. For most manual tranny drivers, it's a...
  15. Convertible top maintenance

Likewise! I've tried Raggtop, 303, and since I've had my Mustang, I discovered the West Marine. Between Raggtopp and 303, I tend to prefer the 303 although both are good. I think the West Marine is the best "bang for the buck." It works as well as the 303 and is noticeably cheaper.
  16. Convertible top maintenance

The 2015 and newer S550's are all fabric. You want the protectant designed for fabric, not vinyl.
  17. Switched from Coupe to a Convertible Impressions

My LeBaron was a lust purchase. It was a very impromptu purchase for me and the worst buying decision I've ever made with a car. I drove it for a little over six years abut put about 90k miles on it. I had more nitpicking problems with that car than I've had with just about every other car...
  18. Total Mustang sales 2019 figure

Maybe, but considering that it's very easy to get Mustang pricing within $10k of a base C8 Corvette, there just might be a little poaching to come, especially considering they'll be getting better performance and handling in a car that, for the time being at least, will be completely unique.
  19. Clutch release technique help!

I hear ya! I've owned a number of MT cars through the years and I never had as much trouble adapting to them as I did with my Mustang. Like you, I still sometimes have trouble getting a smooth shift when trying to drive spiritedly. Here's my observations from my experience with my 2016 GT...
  20. How many of you switched from manual to auto with the 2018+?

Well, since I haven't switched to a 2018+, I haven't swapped transmission types. I bought my 2016 GT used from Carmax. It had all the options I wanted so it caught my eye during a search of their website. It also had a MT which was fine by me but I would have picked it up with the automatic...
