  1. 2017 or 2018 Stang - Decisions, Decisions

Ah, Can't go wrong either way!
  2. 2017 or 2018 Stang - Decisions, Decisions

Love my auto. It's a stout unit and great in heavy traffic. If I were in your shoes, I'd wait. Lots of improvements. But you can go wrong either way!!
  3. A German Perspective Review of the Mustang (Everyday Driver Review)

Yeah, I was never a Ford guy either. Always had GM and Honda. Coming of driving age in the late 70s I always liked GM. Had a 69 442, loved GTOs. You gotta understand, mustangs were everywhere and I was sick of looking at them. Then I bought a 2010 Taurus limited, the first year of the new body...
  4. Where are your next events?

April 15, New Hampshire Motor Speedway. HPDE with BMW CCA.
  5. If you wrecked and totalled your Mustang, what would you replace it with?

I'd stick with a Mustang, especially with the new suspension and DI engine. Would not go Camaro because the visibility issue is unacceptable to me and the trunks on the new Camaros are really, totally, and utterly useless. Challengers don't corner and while the Vette is awesome, is not...
  6. HPDE oil weight

Check out "Section 2" in https://540ratblog.wordpress.com/201...-test-ranking/ He talks about the benefits of a thinner oil extensively and mentioned more effective cooling, better air dissipation, and what the term "film strength" really means.
  7. HPDE oil weight

This is a long read, but contains good info on oil viscosity and ratings. It's authored by an engineer who has done his own testing. Thicker is not better.... https://540ratblog.wordpress.com/2013/06/20/motor-oil-wear-test-ranking/
  8. "Rear Axle Differential Temp Increased, Decrease Speed" warning

Is this overheating issue only seen with the Torsen? A cursory look at these threads mostly show PP Mustangs with this problem. Do we see this on the clutch type LSD?
  9. Best phone mounting location yet (pictures) -- Post yours too.

Also, I always take my phone out of my pocket while I am in my car. If I put it on the passenger seat, I often will forget it is there (black phone, black seat), so the mount helps me to remember to take it with me. And for us '15 and '16 owners without apple car play, it helps to browse the...
  10. Best phone mounting location yet (pictures) -- Post yours too.

Hey, jtmat - what brand mount is that?
  11. Mishimoto’s 2015+ Mustang GT Performance Intake R&D - NOW RELEASED!!

Hi, Product looks great! Question: can a paper filter be used with this kit? I do understand the benefits of an oiled filter, but I don't want to deal with the cleaning and oiling of cloth filter elements. Will the paper filter degrade the design/flow of your system? Thanks! PS, I used to...
  12. Best phone mounting location yet (pictures) -- Post yours too.

Yep, I use the iOttie mount in the same location as Jmeo's. Works great. Sturdy mount.
  13. Anyone running an automatic trans GT on HPDE Days?

Track day came and went, and it was a blast. Tried running it in Sport Plus and Track in auto mode and found for Palmer, it never seemed to be in the right gear on track out. Paddles it was, running the course mostly in 3rd, upshifting to 4th on the straight. Trans temp never went past...
  14. Too Loud at Palmer Motorsports Park?

Hi, I'm attending HPDE at Palmer with my S550 GT. I have Magnaflow MF mufflers on stock exhaust with the stock resonator (sounds great BTW). Palmer track rules state that the sound limit is 96db at 50ft from the edge of the track. Does anyone run their cars there with aftermarket exhaust...
  15. Anyone running an automatic trans GT on HPDE Days?

Sound advice all, thanks. Good point on the painters tape bra - I've already got some stone chips from my daily commute - I imagine it can be a lot worse on a road course! I did price out the Brembo kits online - really big $$$$. Let's see how the stock brakes do.
  16. Anyone running an automatic trans GT on HPDE Days?

Thanks for the replies. Overall though, you're feeling that the stock non PP brakes perform well at the track?
  17. 5.0 Dipstick Oil Level After Oil Change

Be careful not to overfill. An oil level that is too high will hit your crankshaft, causing your oil to foam up or worse!
  18. Need experienced input on AMSOIL OE vs SS

Hi, Here's the link to the oil test as previously mentioned in the thread. https://540ratblog.wordpress.com/2013/06/20/motor-oil-wear-test-ranking/
  19. Anyone running an automatic trans GT on HPDE Days?

Just curious, Anyone running an auto trans GT on HPDE days? I'll be running mine in a few weeks and am curious to hear about any experiences with this vs a PP with a manual trans. I'll also be swapping out the stock 18's with all season rubber for 19" factory PP wheels and summer P-zero's...
