Fluids sit and settle over 6 months. If a car is driven the whole thing gets lubricated. On an engine that sits you’ll develop a line of corrosion eventually. It’s much less likely with synthetic oils but if you do a lot of short trips and your oil smells like gas it’s not really doing much anymore.
