  1. Apparently it's mustang day tomorrow...

Better give the old girl a wash. Might even treat her to some Shell Vpower...
  2. Rusting bodywork

Like it! Just as well I have a drawer full of condoms and she loves doggy:) I guess the fact that you’ve had yours for 4 years and I’ve had mine for 3, we’ve both tolerated all the issues and the atrocious dealers. But there’s something that draws people in . Demand is still strong, despite...
  3. Rusting bodywork

Of course we’re all right to p*ss moan about spec, quality and faults, me included. But the Stang is like a really hot girlfriend. You tolerate all the crap that comes as part of the package because, well she’s so hot! I still look at mine and smile, fire it up and grin. For the money I really...
  4. Rusting bodywork

absolutely! Mines a daily hack and although it’s much loved, I don’t spend my weekends waxing it... but I think it’s fair to highlight the issues on older cars as we get newbies contemplating purchase, and for those with the appetite to fight Uncle Henry, at least they are aware of them
  5. Rusting bodywork

My wings seem ok but alloys are peeling nicely (which Ford rejected under warranty) and bonnet lip starting to go. Certainly disappointing compared to German or Jap stuff, hard to say if it’s on par with other US brands
  6. Mustang Mach 1 UK Dealership Tour

    Mach1 history lesson: https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/sonic-boomers
  7. Brake Pads

I assume you mean better stopping power? Are you wanting this for track days? Personally I find the standard set up pretty impressive for road use given the weight of the car. Like most things in life pads are a compromise. More ā€˜bite’ trades off against shorter pad life, noise, dust etc its...
  8. Mustang Mach 1 UK Dealership Tour

Totally agree. Every Mustang makes a really great car and Mach1 has a good spec and a lot going for it. Enjoy them! The Stang is a victim of its own success on these shores. Its kinda losing its blue collar roots when the prices keep growing year on year. I think a GT was £36k when launched...
  9. Mustang Mach 1 UK Dealership Tour

X2 for me. Had mine coming up 3 years and getting itchy feet but there’s not much that stands out like a Mustang. German premium stuff is very highly competent , but just so dull and for me shows a ā€˜follow the herd ā€˜ mentality meaning a lack of imagination :) I still lust after a Dodge...
  10. Seat care/how much if any of it is real leather?

I had a repair on the drivers upper bolster and the trim guy told me it was pvc. However the squab should be real leather. TBH the bolster is a high wear area so personally more durable vinyl doesnt bother me. I work in automotive and I can advise that Gregs24 is right, it’s normal that parts...
  11. What oil do you guys use in the uk ?

Royal purple with std motorcraft filter and never let the main dealer touch it...
  12. Knobs in the UK

Hurst make a nice retro pool shifter. I had to import it from US
  13. Failed my first MOT

I do think that a lot of garages will follow your instructions to the letter. If you ask them to check a bush, they will do just that. Swap a shock, they will do just that. it could be that it was identified but poor communication stopped the passing of technicians feedback back to the...
  14. BUYER BEWARE Alimize spoilers (eBay)

Sorry to hear the part was junk. Im probably in a massive minority here as my car is pretty stock, but generally I prefer OEM parts as at least they’re rigorously tested and have a specific quality standard to achieve. Yes Ford genuine parts are expensive, but you’re paying for that...
  15. Tax, the future, emissions etc

Don’t forget this shift in tax & culture affects all ICE sports cars to some extent, so it’s not really a case of saying lets swap the Stang for an M3. The whole industry is affected, which gives some protection in numbers. I totally agree that EVs are technologically a marvel but equally quite...
  16. What did you do to your UK S550 Mustang Today

x2 got mine from Mandersmustang on this site. Absolute bargain. Very happy. easy to fit with soapy water and a squegee the red suits the darker paint colours IMO
  17. On the hunt for a GT...

Yup my 2016 V8 is about Ā£500pa tax price drop only from FY2017, not sure if that’s the date registered, sold or built. but hey that tax rate applies to any other pre 2017 fast car and it’s cheaper than the tax on new merc c300hybrid which is Ā£800ish pa typical of Uk govt to cock up a simple...
  18. What did you do to your UK S550 Mustang Today

sorry for my ignorance but what do these do? I fitted diy HIDs to a car many years ago and these had an integrated ballast so I assume our cars already have one is there an issue with stock lights?
  19. Too fast?

Thanks for posting, very informative as an owner of both a classic and an S550 V8 I do worry about Uk govt fiddling with stuff they don’t really understand that said I work in a car company lead by bean counters with barely a petrolhead amongst them... fair point that this style of green...
  20. CO2 tax in France

i guess the other point is that it’s relatively easy to make a car run on electricity, but a lot harder for a plane. back to that quote that there’s no hard shoulder at 10000 feet - that would give you range anxiety 😃 Personally i don’t lose sleep over my carbon footprint as my Stang only does...
