Ahh, go for it. My other car is a red/red 1966 Corvette convertible. Correct original colors.
That said, black exterior, all red interior was popular back then. It's still a classy look and isn't anywhere near as popular now as it should be. That also avoids any interior/exterior color...
Those dang rice burners are fast. I had one just edge out the C2 big block convertible and that was 23 years ago. The new ones are that many years faster.
It's not easy being old school. I looked at an 08 GT a dozen years ago thinking about replacing the 03 Terminator, and just about blew a gasket when I saw the window drop when the door opened. That and one switch for both back windows on a convertible???? WTF???!! I overlooked all that for the...
None of the 3 choices. A 1965 Corvette convertible upgraded with a 454 small block, a TKO 600 5 speed and Vintage air. It's an old guy thing. Well under 100k total cost.
How much wind noise is too much is surely a matter of personal preference, but S550 convertibles US spec are entirely reasonable with the top down at 80 to 85 mph all day long. Then again my other car is a 1966 convertible. That one doesn't bother me either. That's with the windows down.
If it were just coolant in the oil, as in the underside of the oil fill cap looked like it had mayonnaise on it, I'd say head gasket. Oil in the coolant usually means crack or hole in the block. Sorry to hear about that.
If you're the least bit reasonable about your expectations, reliability is NOT an issue for a boosted V8 Mustang. Most recent car before the S550 was a 2003 Terminator. Put a Whipple 2.3 on it at 75,000 miles and drove it another 50,000 without a hiccup. Think of how much better a Coyote 5.0...
What's the problem with a GT500 as a drive to work car? Unless it's the clutch, which I get. 12 years in Houston traffic in a Terminator will give you arthritis in the left leg. But, dang it was always a fun drive to work. Keep the GT500. Put a Whipple 3.0 on it if you're getting bored. Too...
Tremec TR-3160 that Ford put in the GT 350 would be a good place to start. I'd suggest the TKO 500 or 600, but I dont know if there's a version that will fit in a Coyote car.
You can beef up a T56 with a 26 spline input shaft, which I did to mine. Not sure what you can do about the output...
Yeah, only moved here in 2019 after 40 years over there, last in San Antonio. It was nothing to drive to Houston for business meetings and return the same day.
And the in laws are right down the street from the OP in Weslaco.
Go drive a Fox convertible or a 1st gen Stang with the top UP and call me back about that wind noise.....lol
To be fair, the shoulder belt design on these things is just wrong. The belt binds when the seat is close to its rear position limit. This didnt seem to be an issue on Foxes, SN95s or...
Here's some advice from a viejo: there's ALWAYS another one. If ordering the '22 is the right decision, missing out on the '20 isn't a loss, even if you have to wait. If the '22 doesn't come through, keep looking. There'll be another deal somewhere, even if you have to drive a few hours to get...
Uninsured drivers have been a big problem in Texas as long as I can remember. At least the OP won't get bonked with jacked up premiums bc he wasn't at fault.
I missed the S197 generation, went from a 2003 Terminator convertible to a '16 convertible. Was stunned at how much the folding top mechanism and other things had improved. Trunk space is nearly twice that on a New Edge, and the folded top doesn't fill a "well " behind the back seat (that used...
I'm with Jaymar on the old car. Drove a 17 year old Terminator until just 2 years ago. Wiring and seals were not a problem. 125000 miles, with the last 50k of those getting 16# of Whipple boost bashing.....well thats another story. But a stock GT 500 with low miles? You can't go wrong.
Not to...
