Update: I went back to the track that I had the issue with and the valve cover certainly helped fix the issue. I also added a Moroso oil pan so not sure how much that helped as well, but I am getting almost no oil out of the driver side catch can now. Feels so nice to run at full tilt without...
That it is an interesting thought. My understanding is that the sensor is inside the transmission submerged in oil and the housing portion exposed to the air outside shouldn't affect the temp all that much. At least that is how I hope it works!
I had presumed the temp climb was from the engine...
Just the Trans for now. Added a front lip to help draw in more air and had to notch the sides to fit with my Moroso oil pan.
I had bought a modified trans scoop shown on the right of the last Pic and plan take the higher walls and put them on my scoop to help keep the exhaust heat out. Race...
Have had this kit on my track car for the past few years and worked great for keeping the front brake temps under control. Went to a custom setup so this is no longer needed.
I didn't like the lower bracket for the hose mount so I replaced it with some steel bar I had lying around ... Much...
Rear toe is bad... should be .11-.12 on each side. Rear camber is also bad... it is adjustable from the factory (inboard camber link bolt mount is slotted) and should be closer to -1.3 to -1.5. Front looks ok.
Have you verified the offset stamped on the inside of the wheel? I also find it strange there is that much interference. I am also running the steeda lateral links with a 19x11 +50/25mm spacer setup and am no where near that close to touching the sway bar or tension link.
Maybe the steering...
@Vato
I have met Vato and his group at a few tracks in the area. Really great set of people who enjoy hanging out and are passionate about their mustangs.
Some toe out up front may help with quicker steering response and can you elaborate on what you mean by 'twitchy'?
I have a fairly track oriented setup R bars, BMR handling springs, FRPP track shocks... The car handles amazingly well and during fast transitions it does take a 1/4 second or so...
Another thought... You mentioned 'stabbing' the transmission in... It shouldn't take much force and in fact it should be a slow delicate process... Line up the trans, give it a twist back and forth while also applying slight pressure. It should slip right in.
Wanted to give you an update since I recently installed gauges for engine, trans and diff... 20 min track sessions with 40-50 min rest in between... Peak Temps were engine 245, trans 220, diff 240.
Trans has a slightly modified trans cooling scoop and wrapped exhaust near diff with heat wrap...
