I'll admit I was pretty skeptical. Hard to believe just a fluid swap could change the shift feel so much. I'll report back again after a full week of driving but tonight's drive was a pretty big change.
Drove the car a bunch today, swapped the OEM fluid to BG Unicorn Shift II, drove it a bunch more.
It appears that all the 1->2 weirdness is gone. For the first time since owning the car it just drops into second gear.
It's been pretty warm today, so I'm curious to see if it'll be any different...
Why do we do this camaro vs mustang sales # thing each month. We're all car enthusiasts. Some of us bought a camaro, some of us bought a mustang. Who cares.
With my car it never goes away, no matter how long you drive. Almost every 1->2 upshift you'll feel a few bumps through the shifter and then it'll engage. You have to shift really slowly for it to not happen.
In the end I believe this is just the way the trans is and Ford can't/won't do anything about it. We'll probably just have to invest in new fluid and maybe and MGW shifter to make it better.
Since new my GT/PP has had a "nibble" going into second gear. It doesn't make a noise like a grind, but it makes you feel like the synchros aren't doing their job. It's almost like the gear engages partially, pops out, then goes back in.
This of course seems like one of several common issues...
Are there any rotary forged wheels available with a bronze or gold finish? I was pretty sold on the TSW Bathurst but I'd like to get something that's not just gray or silver.
My coworker just got a Focus RS not too long ago. It's a cool car and makes some great noises, but they sure are expensive. I can imagine the depreciation will be pretty brutal on them.
Being in the midwest, I'd get the RS if I only wanted to have 1 vehicle and the price didn't bother me. Since...
The mustang is a two door with tiny back seats. I'm sorry, it is nowhere near as practical as a 2015+ WRX. We carpool almost every day in a 2015 WRX with four adults. We've done the same once in my S550, it was a joke.
It's apples to oranges.
The Subaru WRX is the kind of car you choose if you only want to have 1 car that does everything pretty well. It's quick for what it is, it's fun, it's fuel efficient, it's practical (the 2015+ seats four adults easily), it's good in all seasons.
The Mustang on the...
I would go with the manual performance pack car. Every time I've bought an automatic I end up regretting it, or trading for a manual. I live in metro detroit and drive in traffic for all of my commutes, it's not a big deal with a stick. For me, the manual transmission makes the car. It is a lot...
