  1. More Body Kit Fun

First, let me say I very much like the various renders of yours, jjw, and Chaz (and others). Appreciate the effort. Regarding the aero: It's probably six of one, half a dozen of another, frankly. Most aren't going to use the car in a manner that aero would matter, so let your aesthetic...
  2. 2015 Mustang Engine Lineup and Power Figures Revealed by Ford Survey

Ok, now you guys have just gone too far! :) I've read all sorts of opinions concerning the placement of tach and speedo, about renders looking like Honda's (or whatever), and whatever else is the current hot topic. But tread into units systems ('metric' vs. 'English') and I must speak up...
  3. 2015 Mustang engine lineup according to "insider"

With a bore of 92.2 mm and a stroke of 92.7 mm, the displacement of the Coyote '5.0' is actually 4.9513 liters, or 302.1468 cubic inches. Rounding to the nearest tenth of a liter gives 5.0. The 302W, on the other hand, w/ a bore of 4.000" and a stroke of 3.000" has a displacement of 301.5929...
  4. [poll] Auto or Manual next gen?

Hmmm, let me think about that ... < drumming fingers> .... Nope, I'm feeling a little younger today because you and Norm are older than I! :) j/k You didn't think you'd get off THAT easy, did ya? :) Bill
  5. [poll] Auto or Manual next gen?

Happy birthday, Norm. You and JohnZ are making me feel young. :) Manual for me.
  6. Chinese Transmission

Thanks for the feedback about the trans mount, mustangfam. Bullitt: in my experience, admittedly limited, many manual trans are a little slow/hard to shift when cold. I imagine it's due to the lube being thicker/more viscous when cold, and then being harder/slower to squeegee out from between...
  7. Chinese Transmission

Yes, I like a heavy feel to a trans too. Good 'talking' w/ you, but I've got a date w/ an old girl. :) Bill
  8. Chinese Transmission

I could go drone on about work-related stuff. If it wasn't pretty important stuff, actually, it would be comical. How some people land in the jobs they do, w/ the backgrounds they don't have, is beyond me.
  9. Chinese Transmission

Thanks for that info, RTD. My concern about the linkage in the current Mustang is that the shifter body is attached to the body of the car, while the trans will rotate and translate due to torque produced by the engine. So, basically, the shifter and linkage are moving relative to the trans...
  10. Chinese Transmission

mustang: I didn't mean to imply that I thought you were complaining -- I don't. You were quite level-headed in your description of the problem. I was more commenting (complaining?! :) ) about what seems to be a general tendency on the internet to complain about anything and everything...
  11. Chinese Transmission

:) Sounds like a linkage adjustment problem, since high rpm shifts are generally done more forcefully. Could certainly be wrong. From what I've read, some consider Tremec's to be too clunky (when shifting). The TKO seems have a fairly well known reputation for the 2-3 shift being balky...
  12. Chinese Transmission

Gents, I can say that clutch and shift linkage 'issues' can make any transmission seem like junk. I could easily be wrong here, but from the little I've read, and what little I've seen, some problems attributed (by some) to the trans are probably due to the clutch and/or linkage. Clutch...
  13. 2015 Mustang interior: Gauge, Instrument Cluster, Center Console Pic!!

Agreed. But some times, those pieces are actually pretty cheap. Radio block-off plates come to mind. But I think that the main cost penalty accrues from having yet another 'option' (that being as few options as possible! :) ) to contend with in manufacturing.
  14. 2014 Z28 Assault Thread.

Been away for a while and got caught up yesterday & today. All I'm going to say is that it's been a very interesting read.
  15. What do you guys think about the new Stingray Corvette?

    Congrats. Sharp looking car.
  16. 2015 Mustang interior: Gauge, Instrument Cluster, Center Console Pic!!

Count me w/ Norm. Options are 'sacrificed' for reliability and performance (less mass). It would be nice if those interested in racing (track, drag, whatever) didn't have to pony up for stuff that they're just going to remove anyway. And last I knew, "body in white" cars are no longer...
  17. Voodoo Theory

Very sensible thesis, RTD. Re Stevef's comment: I have been wondering if the Aluminator would be the GT350 engine, essentially.
  18. chazcron's 2015 Mustang 3D renders and 'shops

Chaz, I for one think that render is merely a shopped S197. I have tons of respect for what you've done. I'm sure many of us here do. Esp. fond of your recent blue render.
  19. 2014 Z28 Assault Thread.

Doesn't the B302 in the video sound awfully quiet as it passes the camera & mic near the end of the video? Not like what I've heard, for sure. Seems odd. And, yeah, why not video everything? The extra cost amounts to a hill of beans. Again, seems odd.
