  1. Official: 2018 Ford Mustang Refresh Detailed! (Options/Features, Specs, Photos, Info)

The days of low cost (low being under 30-35k) V8s are numbered, guys.
  2. Official: 2018 Ford Mustang Refresh Detailed! (Options/Features, Specs, Photos, Info)

Same. I'll admit I think GM had the right idea by allowing customers to choose between turbo 4 or N/A V6 with regard to features and whatnot.

I hate to do this, but it doesn't look like the Recaros are gonna be available with heat.

If memory serves, yes, the TR-6060 fits that description.

Cylinder deactivation IS likely coming at some point. In the tech articles on the 5.0 when it launched, mention was made of how both banks have the oil feed for the valve train at the front of the head. In addition to VVT (and potentially variable valve lift), cylinder deactivation is one such...

I know. Either the pics are mislabeled (wouldn't be the first time marketing materials had a mistake in them), Kona Blue has been changed a little, or I haven't seen it in such a long time that I'm getting confused.
  7. Official: 2018 Ford Mustang Refresh Detailed! (Options/Features, Specs, Photos, Info)

Not sure. My guess would be a month or so, maybe at the New York show.
  8. Official: 2018 Ford Mustang Refresh Detailed! (Options/Features, Specs, Photos, Info)

I'm not so sure. I've got a listing for a 2017 GT PP in Lightning Blue open in one tab, and a Carmax listing for an S197 in Kona Blue open in another tab. Judge for yourself.

Looking at 2017s on cars.com, I'm really starting to think the blue in these press images is Lightning Blue, not Kona Blue.

I know. The Germans have been doing that for a while.

Considering Ford made a big about the 5.0 being able to rev to 7k when it launched, that would seem to indicate that a variable redline is part of the deal now. I can't imagine them detuning it like that.

Yes and no. A forged wheel was standard on the 99/01 Cobras and then brought back on the 03-04 Mustang GT as an option. It IS the first time such an option has been available for the Mustang since then, though.

I wouldn't be surprised if the axle ratio is different (as an example, C7 Z51 and Grand Sport Corvettes get a 2.73 axle when ordered with the auto, whereas the standard car gets a 2.56 gearset with the same tranny). I also wouldn't be surprised if a beefed up trans cooler and more aggressive...

So do the M cars. I think it was introduced on the either E39 M5 or the E46, and both cars had analog-style gauges.

Like I said, I suspect the dual mode exhaust will be a popular option on the GT. Hell, it was so popular on the C7 that GM made it standard with the Z51 package for MY 2015. I wouldn't be surprised if the same holds true for PP Mustangs. Real question is whether or not the dual mode system...

A thought occurs with regard to the digital gauges. BMW has been doing a thing on M cars for the last several years where the tach will show a different, lower redline if the engine is cold. Is it possible that's what's going on here?

For what it's worth, none of the current dual injection engines from Toyota and Audi are rated for flex fuel use. Then again, they're all in luxury cars or sports cars (and the Tacoma). On the other side of the coin, GM's Gen V 5.3L truck V8 can be had with flex fuel capability, and I wouldn't...
  18. Official: 2018 Ford Mustang Refresh Detailed! (Options/Features, Specs, Photos, Info)

I know, I saw it. IMO, an additional available color isn't much of an upgrade.

Those polished 19s kinda look like the Bullitts from the S197...
