After reading your post I think you're really going to enjoy PP2. The boost in midrange torque is very noticeable. I am looking forward to your impressions.
I went from PP2 to PP3 about a month ago. PP2 had a very punchy, torquey, midrange. PP3 has more of a top end rush. Pulls harder to the redline than PP2. I notice slightly better gas mileage with PP3. With PP3 I just hold my gears longer usually second and third. I have 3.31 years and manual...
And, you will love it. Not much need for wet/snow mode here in San Diego, but when I've tried it the throttle response is less snappy. Less likely to break loose. The stock Pirellis are slippery when the temps are in the 50s. I can only imagine what real cold would be like with those tires. I'm...
I noticed a difference between normal and sport mode with pp3. I don't notice it as much with pp3. I haven't tried track mode with either. Guess I could experiment with that.
You could call Ford Performance (800-367-3788) and ask them about the effects of the power packs on the different driving modes.
They will have the most accurate information.
Pp2 has that midrange torque that I really enjoyed, but also got me into trouble coming out of a backroads corner in 2nd gear. Driveability was good. Pp3 lacks that midrange punch. The power comes on smoothly. It's a little "tamer." Pp3 pulls a lot harder up top and I can feel this in the seat...
Lion, I've enjoyed reading your posts about the power packs. I went from pp2 to pp3 about a month ago. I let the dealer do the pp3 install because I had the cash. I have a 6sp manual and 3.31 gears. So, what rpm should I shift at to get the most out of pp3?
Thanks.
So this morning I picked up my 2016 GT after the PP3 install. I drove mostly freeway miles to work. What I noticed was crisp throttle tip in and a smoother, less peaky midrange. The up top power is definitely there, but I didn't get a chance to shift at WOT at the new, higher redline. It feels...
Encinitas Ford. I went to pick the car up this morning, but since they forgot to do the oil change they're keeping it another day. The service manager told me that they had trouble reverting to the stock tune prior to loading the PP3 tune. When they finally took it for a test drive they smelled...
Will do. Picking it up in the morning before work. So I'll have a 30 mile commute on 5 North. Will be able to get a taste.
Also, Ford Performance advised me to give the tech a USB memory stick to load both the stock tune and the PP3 tune. I'm thinking I can just download these to my laptop...
When I went from PP1 to PP2 I had to reload the stock tune before I could upload the PP2 tune. I did both installs myself. My car is at the dealer since Friday getting PP3. I decided to let them do it. They had trouble reloading the stock tune and then misplaced some wires and melted part of the...
Encinitas Ford wants $515 to install PP3. Ken Grody in Carlsbad wants $600. I might just do it myself. I did the PP2 myself. PP3 doesn't look complicated according to the instructions.
I'm impressed. I'd have to study up on that. I have the Ford Performance PP3 waiting to install. Dealer wants $500 to install. I'll probably do it myself though.
Yes, I will post my impressions. They will only be verified by my butt dyno. A few times per week I'm shifting at 7000rpm through the first few gears so I'm familiar with how that feels. I'm hoping to notice the difference.
I've been driving PP2 since last May and have had no issues at all. I just placed an order for PP3 with Levittown. They have a discount for being a forum member. I may do this install myself as well. Not dissatisfied with PP2, but wife insisted I get a Southwest Airlines credit card and spend...
