Found out today it's not the cost of the parts....parts including new flywheel are only 700. They said it's an 11 hour job and their shop rate is about 150 an hour. I guess the diagnostic fee and taxes eats up the rest. Not entirely done with customer service but the Dealer service advisor so...

I was looking at exedy, I think it was the 600 or something, not sure how much difference there will be. Lightweight steel flywheel is probably what I'll go with. Side note the car was able to start in gear with the oem flywheel....will the reduced mass of the exedy flywheel not allow this to...

If I don't get the warranty work approved what are some recommendations for upgrades? Lightened steel flywheel vs aluminum? Mcleod twin disc?

clutch had plenty of material left...something caused it to completely fail. I certainly haven't taken this thing to a drag strip or anything that would cause undue stress to the flywheel.

They said the clutch caused the slave cylinder to fail

Not so sure FordService even cares about the forums anymore. There's been no activity on the account for over a year.

I do have a warranty, both powertrain and Premium ESP. So it should be covered, dunno if ESP reps are the same as the warranty but I'll give them a call if I can't work anything out with FORD directly. Yea I already had my AC compressor replaced under warranty.

Oh I completely understand if it gets worn that it's not covered but complete failure to the point where it won't disengage is a whole other story. There is actually a clutch warranty although the details aren't specifically discussed. All it says is there are ways of driving that can void it...

So, apparently a complete clutch failure that has actual damage to it and not worn isn't covered under the powertrain warranty. Seems pretty ridiculous to me. Also, cost is supposedly $2800. I assume that includes a flywheel or some resurfacing or something like that. Don't have pictures yet...
