I got some the first time last week turning into a parking spot. Not normal brake squeal for sure. Then again yesterday while turning sharp to the left. I got something similar today in the way in to work while just barely on the brake in traffic driving straight, but it was very brief and...
With the above description on removal, I was brave enough to try to fix my squeak last night. Mine only required removing the lower piece, it popped out pretty easy, but the lowest white clip popped off the piece in the process. It had me worried for a moment that I'd broken it, but the clip...
There is no news.
Lots of people suggesting X, Y, or Z, and the organizer saying 'be patient, we're working on a couple and will let you know ASAP', then more people posting more ideas on where it could be and around and around it's going.
For me it's less about cheaper or more expensive. The PP wheels, while I like the look of them, are not light. I'd prefer getting a lighter set for my summer tires, and leave the PP wheels for winter use.
It makes little sense of going through the effort to add a CAI/tune, and new springs or...
Ok, so perhaps the pivot isn't where the noise is coming from. Not sure, but if you have something squeaking, lubing that part should improve the situation.
Best of luck resolving it.
The force on the pivot point is the same regardless of whether there's a spring or not a spring. The only difference would be the force is coming from the spring vs. your leg.
The squeak would have been there no mater. You just need some lube on the pivot.
Definitely. I'm just trying to isolate it before I take it in. I want to be clear on whether it always pulls the same direction or not, and it's not been happening often enough for me to remember exactly. But even if I don't narrow it down, it'll definitely be brought up at the first service...
I've not had the squeal at all with my PP, but one thing I get every now and again is a heavy pull to one side under braking. It's like one of the front pads pulls way away from the rotor and the other side catches much sooner. Catches me off guard when it happens. But it's temporary, once I...
Hmm. I was at a meeting related to autosports recently, and I believe the promoter/organizer of the Tigard C&C was there. I overheard him mention the Portland C&C and was confused that they chose the same day/time as the Tigard event. Which makes sense since competition in this small market...
Of the two, I'll only ever attend the one in Tigard. I appreciate the Merc,BMW,Audi,Ferrari,Porsche crowd personally. Some are friends of friends, plus I have places I like to visit close by.
That said, it may be a few weeks before I make it back.
I find it interesting how everyone has a different tolerance for 'pain'.
It really makes you wonder how anyone building audio equipment can survive with such varied responses to sounds.
Also, the above points out a good reason not to let your SO drive your car. But I suppose that's just me...
I'll likely not make the next one. Saturday is going to be busy for me. Actually the next month is going to be. However, I am looking forward to hearing the difference.
