Ok, so perhaps the pivot isn't where the noise is coming from. Not sure, but if you have something squeaking, lubing that part should improve the situation. Best of luck resolving it.

The force on the pivot point is the same regardless of whether there's a spring or not a spring. The only difference would be the force is coming from the spring vs. your leg. The squeak would have been there no mater. You just need some lube on the pivot.

Of the two, I'll only ever attend the one in Tigard. I appreciate the Merc,BMW,Audi,Ferrari,Porsche crowd personally. Some are friends of friends, plus I have places I like to visit close by. That said, it may be a few weeks before I make it back.

I find it interesting how everyone has a different tolerance for 'pain'. It really makes you wonder how anyone building audio equipment can survive with such varied responses to sounds. Also, the above points out a good reason not to let your SO drive your car. But I suppose that's just me...
