  1. First time autocross preparations?

Put gas in the car, check your oil level, and set your tire pressures. Refresh yourself on the procedure for turning off traction/stability control. Bam you are now ready. Until you get serious and have that second set of wheels & tires, camber plates, etc. All the track perpetrations are...
  2. 2017 GT350, no tow hook receiver!?

Name another street car that comes with one from the factory.
  3. S550 strengths and weaknesses?

Prevent fade. Whether that helps you brake later, depends on if you are already trying to brake too late or not. Spending 10% less time braking is worth a lot less time than spending 10% more time at full throttle. So being under control, hitting the apex, and getting back on throttle as soon...
  4. S550 strengths and weaknesses?

Did you use fresh, good brake fluid? With the Brembos I wouldn't expect a novice to have any brake problems. Maybe the prior owner replaced the (good) stock pads with something cheap and/or low dusting? It is a fairly common problem that people (not usually novices) try to brake too late. So...
  5. S550 strengths and weaknesses?

Depends on which one you have, and what you may have done to it. But yeah, driver is the biggest limiting factor. After that tires, especially as the Mustang is big and heavy and usually doesn't have enough camber for track use.
  6. Let’s talk wheels..

Yes just throw on a 5mm front spacer. IIRC the Apex 18x10's are +42, so they will need a spacer too with 285's. And all the typical 11" square setups require a spacer. Wheel selection is pretty skimpy in 18" that will clear the Brembo's. Especially at value prices. So it is not a change to...
  7. SVE Mach 1 wheels

Hopefully not the ugly as @#$% handing pack wheel. The standard Mach 1 wheel isn't bad looking though, and is somewhat reminiscent of the 03-04 wheel.
  8. Flow One F2 wheels ordered

I talked to a Tire Rack sales rep, and he said the 19x10 WOULD fit on the front with no issues, even with Brembo brakes. 20x10 should have even more clearance.
  9. Best tire for summer daily driver that will also work well for occasional track days?

I agree with Nightmare. A couple of extra points is all-season tires often don't last long on track, it is not just a problem with them being slow. He stated to mention Firestone, the Indy 500 is a good value choice. It will last as long or longer with track use as the Michelin PSS (~P4S) for...
  10. Tire options for Handling Package

Pretty much the same options as every other Mustang. In Canada, I assume you will want all seasons or a set of summer and winter wheels and tires (I would go smaller with the winter set) . I can't comment on all season or winter tires. I like Indy 500's as value priced summer tires, Michelin...
  11. Brembo Brakes Feel

The high initial bite makes them hard to modulate at low speeds. This goes away a bit as they wear. They feel good when used hard.
  12. Track day prep

My first track day I blistered the RF tire. So I agree that you need more camber for track use. But if you are a novice and aren't pushing the car hard you might not need to do it right way. Be prepared to rotate tires to help extend the life (don't forget the wheel lock key if you have wheel...
  13. I've got analysis paralysis, help me pick my wheels.

I think the R325 is the best looking. I also like the XS7, but no 19's is a deal breaker. The +40 wheels might need a small spacer up front with wider 285+ tires.
  14. Mustang V8 vs Ecoboost

Yes, that's why those Cadillacs always outrun the Lotuses (Loti?). And why people always rejoice when the new model gained weight over the old model.
  15. Mustang V8 vs Ecoboost

I have seen old ladies in a stockish Subrau BRZ outrun a guy in a Ford GT supercar (prior gen) at a track day. The better driver wins most of the time. On the street, how much of the so called winners are "compeating" against people who aren't racing them?
  16. Street Car suspension mods?

I think it will be very challenging to find a suspension that will give you wheel hop with street tires, but not your slicks. ;-)
  17. Mustang V8 vs Ecoboost

Article? Everything I remember from Car & Driver, Road and Track, and MotorTrend was pretty non complimentary for the Ecowimp. Some of the (later) GT reviews haven't been great until you get to the upgrade models (PP, PP2, etc.). Even the upgraded version of the EB Performance Pack with more...
  18. Mustang V8 vs Ecoboost

Problem is it's not that much lighter. And still a big car. Can 13K in mods make a car faster? Sure, but only if they are the RIGHT mods. And remember some stuff is downgraded on the Ecoboost version so you have to spend money to just match what is stock on a GT. Plus no warranty. Are you...
  19. What are Track and Autocross guys doing about...

Why the hell would you quit selling what is widely recognized as the best 200TW tire? Especially without a replacement.
  20. Street Car suspension mods?

Goals? What don't you like about the current handling?
