Did you figure anything out here? I’m switching mine over today and wondering if I have the same issue. It seems like there may be still ~5 gal in the tank. I jumped the Fore controller to run the pump dry. The car won’t start, so no fuel at the pump. But my gauge is still reading 1/4 tank...
Unplug those IMRC connectors before you lift the motor. By the way, to answer your question, you don't have to "lift" the motor much, if at all, but you do have to SUPPORT it with a lifting mechanism in order to remove the motor mount brackets.
Getting the car up high enough is key. I'd...
Two more relevant questions for you guys -
(1) what different things have you guys done to get the pump leads through the factory seal? I see the OP here chose to leave the big main connector outside of the seal and trim a spot on the edge for the wiring. It seems like leaving the connector...
I talked to Justin yesterday. They are sending an olive overnight and he confirmed the little gray clip is used to lock the connector for the fuel pump(s) wiring closed. Like I expected, it was probably a dumb question, but it seemed strange the way it was bagged separately.
I just want to...
I just laid mine out last night. I'm installing along with a Procharger. The PC kit installs a vacuum manifold right off of the factory vacuum block (wrapped in sticky foam near the TB). The bypass valve and boost gauge both come off of the new vacuum manifold, so that's where I'm getting...
This will probably end up being a dumb/obvious question, but does anyone know what the little gray plastic piece is that comes with the L4 FC3 controller? I don't have a photo of it at the moment, but it's very small and in its own bag. It looks like it would be used for some type of temporary...
How exactly does the 4G power lead tie into the main 100A fuse? Is it just like a terminal block with a set screw? (I am trying to assemble parts for my install in a few days, but I am not near my garage ATM.)
I'm wondering if tinning is acceptable for the (2) fuse connections. I have the...
Oh yeah, I totally forgot to add something about the tape. I used that after reading it here and it's a great idea. I didn't ending up "needing" it, but it provides some great moral support. I'm updating my post now...
First of all, I had the exact same freak out moment when I took mine apart a few days ago (just put it back together yesterday). My RH chain was in the exact same spot as in your photo. Like others have said, the marks are just for initial install. I have the Ford manual, so I ultimately just...
I got my full ARH exhaust buttoned up and just working on O2 sensors before I can fire it up. As much as people talk about the header job, it wasn't really that bad; I was working on 12" wheel cribs. The ARHs fit nicely.
I swear that I have read somewhere that O2 extensions are not needed on...
Thanks for the feedback. I will likely order one of the upgrade kits soon as my "big power" is being delivered in a big box today. :headbang:
Drilling out the front bushing is easy compared to installing solid bushings, so if the upgraded bolt solution is deemed to be "enough," I will do...
I'm just getting started with my 2015. Just picked up a low-mile stock A6 3.55 car which will be a fun/track/weekend car. Definitely not a DD. It's now sitting on Weld bigs and littles and I am hopefully on the way to ~800 whp soon. I need it to be fairly kind on the street, but it's a straight...
Disregard! I knew it was going to be something dumb, and here we are.
I have the car up on cribs, so the suspension had to unload in front before the engine and body would separate. If the car is on a lift it will not be an issue. Idiot moment.
Onward!
Installing my headers today. I've got the two motor mount nuts off (holding the bracket to the mount on each side), but when I jack on the engine, it's lifting the whole front of the car up. It's like the bracket is stuck to the mount. I've tried jacking in several places (oil pan, bellhousing...
Awesome work! Just catching up now and laughing through most of your posts as our plans are so similar. I have most of the same parts either planned or waiting to be installed. I also have had issues with the cold (and life) causing the car and parts to sit untouched for like a month. I'm...
