  1. To have dealer wash at PDI or not?

I have no issue with the plastic removal personally. That way you can get a look at what is under the plastic. Just because it is covered doesn't mean there isn't damage you can't see from a rock chip say. My car will be coming on rail, then over to a truck for the last bit.
  2. Paint Protection Suggestions

You can get a paint protection film (PPF) like Xpel, 3M, or Suntek. You can do just the front or the entire car. This will completely protect the paint from scratches, though the film can scratch. Some like Xpel or Suntek have healing clear coats so they scratches will remove. You are...
  3. To have dealer wash at PDI or not?

What he means by polish is removing any already instilled paint marring. This could be either a one, two, or three step process, though very likely covered in one. Compounding removes most of the issues, polishing fixed compounding induced micro scratches or hazes, and then finally finishing...
  4. How often do you wash your car?

Every 5-7 days work and other life commitments pending.
  5. Steeda S550 Mustang Hood Strut Kit (GT, V6, EcoBoost) - Now Available!

Agreed. Even at $120 Steeda makes money, seems like a bit of an unnecessary tax for additions to this that cost pennies to include.
  6. Hand Washing Vs. Car Wash?

Please hand wash, especially black. And please do it properly!
  7. Had Opti-Coat Applied.

Agreed. Incorrect. In a sense anyway, yes it can be damaged. And the paint protection the dealer offers is a sealant. Opti-Coat, or any other coating is similar to a sealant but that it last significantly longer. It isn't like another clear coat, it is a top layer that will take the...
  8. Kinda given up on COTUS

My car is built and is waiting transport. However, the website says my car has been delivered, however that it was delivered on a date that in the future. Doesn't say that it is the estimated date, but that delivery is made. Also, different dates show between cotus.ford and wwwqa.cotus.ford...
  9. Anyone Using 22ple?

Exactly this, quality coating from everything I can tell. Will be the next I go with.
  10. Had Opti-Coat Applied.

I would do Opticoat (Coating/sealant) first then stripes, same as if you were putting on a PPF over the bumper/hood.
  11. Install Diode Dynamic switchbacks [PICS]

Yup.... waiting on stock so I can buy them as well as every other offering by DD and avoid a double shipping situation.
  12. Questions about Clearcoat

Ford CC is generally pretty hard. As for keeping it swirl free, proper washing and drying will correct this issue for you and avoid the need to polish often reducing your CC every single time you do.
  13. Had Opti-Coat Applied.

A glaze is a product that has fillers in it. Some people use it before a sealant or wax to trick the eye by hiding minor paint blemishes. Should be noted, a glaze won't hide severe issues. And yes, some dealers will apply a glaze so that it looks great upon delivery. Without some sort of...
  14. Had Opti-Coat Applied.

Just to be clear, Opti Coat isn't a scratch resistant coating. Great care should still be taken when washing/drying etc.
  15. Supercharger Install

I was thinking the same thing, what is the point of putting back have of a brace. It isn't bracing anything anymore.....
  16. Electric Leaf Blower to Dry Your S550?

I've never found leaf blowers to do a good job. Last year I took a gamble and got a Metro Blaster dryer. Worth every penny. Dries the car in about the same amount, or less time than a drying towel and no risk of drying induced marring. great for the wheels, engine, and getting every last...
  17. Clay, or not to Clay

Absolutely clay your car. Also, use and Iron X type product after delivery. There will be a TON of rail dust on it. I clay twice per year, once at the end of spring/early summer, and again in the fall.
  18. Where are the single turbo kits???

Well, there is a twin turbo option available. Given the V8, a single turbo manifold would pretty difficult to do. For a turbo option, a twin makes more sense in splitting a turbo per cylinder bank.
