Here is an interesting follow up to this - I was messing around on the FordOwner website last weekend, and found an update available for the Sync system on the wife's Focus. I installed it, because I like to keep things up to date, and never gave it another thought.
A couple of days ago, she...
Maybe there is an expectations problem here. Speaking for myself, I never expected my car to be perfect. I didn't go over it with a "fine toothed comb", measure the panel gaps with a digital caliper, or threaten to "refuse delivery" if the dealer did any one of the number of things that many of...
I am almost certain that "proximity locking" isn't a feature, though I seriously wish it was.
I had an aftermarket alarm system on my last car (which I drove for 9 years) that would automatically arm the alarm and lock the doors 30 seconds after the last door or trunk was shut. I got really...
I have an appointment Monday morning for the brake squeal issue. I am interested to see how the fix holds up. Mine didn't start squealing until I had it for several hundred miles. I am at 8400 now and it pretty much squeals all the time now.
You are from Rassle Cock? I used to live up off of the Barnes Rd/Toutle Park Drive exit, back in the late 80's. Also used to tend bar at the Eagle's lodge there.
Thanks for sharing. Funny thing about cars and dads. I lost mine to cancer (dad, not car) when I was 21 and he was 45. My dad was a mechanical genius. He served 25 years in the Coast Guard, retiring as a Chief Engineering Officer. That man could fix anything, it seemed like.
He taught me how...

I had a day off yesterday, so now that the TSB is out, I thought it would be a good idea to have the dealer look at it.
As (bad) luck would have it, yesterday was the first time since about 250 miles (7800 now) that it *didn't* squeal.
The service writer claimed that they didn't have anyone...
I wasn't sure where to put this, or even if it would be of use to anyone other than myself.
I have noticed many times that someone would post a question, and the reply would be that the setting was available in the "Center Display". Well, there is a lot of stuff in the center display, so I...
That is odd. On my phone, as soon as it connects with MFT if marks every text on the phone as *read*.
Which is kind of annoying.
I would have expected it to only mark read the ones that I have listened to.
It is definitely something that gets worse over extended light braking, but for my everyday driving I can't bring myself to approach every stop at 40+ and then stand on the brakes with both feet just to keep from squealing.
For the record, I wasn't doing anything to try to "make" it squeal. I was idling along in traffic and noticed it again, so I hit record on my cell phone.
I did have the driver's window open, and there was a Jersey barrier to my left which was probably echoing some, but it really is that loud...
I have a GT Premium, non PP. My noise started at around 300 miles. I currently have a little over 7500 and it is only getting worse. It used to only be the first couple of stops in the morning, especially when it was raining. Now it is virtually all low speed braking. It seriously sounds like a...
