Be careful how much material you remove from that stock shock mount. They aren’t the strongest things around even untouched when factory new. I suggest the Steeda billet upper shock mounts. Not only do you get the bearing mount and huge increase in strength, they’re also pulled inward slightly...
It’s all detailed in this thread, post #17 shows the conditions when this started.
I swapped pumpkins from 3.73 to 3.55 and updated Forscan line 726-12-01 from the stock gear ratio value (0175) to the new gear ratio value (0163), as well as stock tire size value (0858) to a new tire size value...
Last night I reverted back to stock Forscan settings in the BCM line 726-12-01. Stock gear ratio, and tire size, and check sum values. Tried another PCM reset and that did remove the U0422 code from the PCM, but the limp-mode issue is still present after driving it 2-3 miles. Maybe it needs more...
I use a 4x6 utility trailer from Lowe’s, which I’ve removed the parachute (rear ramp gate) from. Curt hitch on the car weighs 44 lbs but it’s worth it for me. Tows easily and keeps the interior in good shape. Drag a set of four 60lb wheel/tire assemblies in and out of the interior enough times...
The death of STP will further boost CAMC participants. I wonder how many cars ran in STP in 2018....
Sadly I was considering switching from CAMC down to STP for 2019 to be better equipped for class, since CAM is seriously deep water stuff and I’m nowhere near built to class rules. I’m way past...
Looks good @krishelnino! Happy I could help get you set up!
Did you specifically request the spacers with lightening-slots milled in between the lug holes or do they all come like that now? Nice little weight saver there.
I have executed the PCM reset/relearn procedure a total of 3-4 times, using two separate methods as outlined on the Forscan forum.
Tonight I will be reloading the OEM settings back for both gear ratio and tire size changes, so this line will be as it was when stock. Will see if that has an...
@2016s550gt Have you tried driving on your car's original OEM Forcan setup, with no gearing or tire changes in the programming? (the only change being the physical gears themselves). If so, did you still have the limp-mode issue?
Swapped from 3.73 to 3.55 last night. Have only driven it up and down the road a few times now trying to solve the limp-mode issue after tweaking the Forscan settings. I made the swap for a little higher top speed in 2nd gear (autocross), but I won't have a verdict on that front until after next...
Swapped my 2017 GTPP from the original 3.73 to a 3.55 (whole diff swap) last night. With help from @TigerFire13 we used Forscan to update the axle ratio code from 0175 to 0163. Additionally, I have been using shorter tires than OEM for several months now, and since we had Forscan connected we...
I don’t WANT to lose my Torsen. I autocross my car and it works well (enough) for that. It would survive longer than the clutch based diff I recently picked up. However, I’m going to swap complete diffs because in the short term the better gearing of 3.55 will help me more than the loss of...
What are the (readily available) specific tires you want to run in 315 or 325 on a 19” wheel? Lots of options in 305, there is a slight drop off in selection as you go up from there, at least in 19”.
However, even a 305 will be better supported when mounted on an 11.5” or even 12” wide wheel...
The NON-Torsen rear differential in the S550 Mustangs... standard clutch type.. are they picky about fluid viscosity or additives? I know Torsen is the solution, but I’m swapping my 3.73 for a 3.55 for higher speeds in second gear (autocross) and I won’t be rebuilding them to swap my Torsen over...
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately that is an aluminum housing AND an automatic flange. Two things I’m trying to stay away from. The 3.55 gearset is perfect though
Tempting as a vacation sounds, I need an iron housing 3.55 (or potentially 3.31) setup. Aluminum 3.15s are just outside my scope for now. Thanks for the offer!
