Emissions and the cafe standards etc def takes the fun out of many vehicles...Diesels especially but what the mfgs are doing is tring to squeeze more MPG
from the line up. At our expense
piston slap will be fixed but it takes the OEMs a year or so..as a new GT buyer I would avoid the 2018s like the plague ,the 2019s who knows .
GM had a similar issue in the early 2000s LS's and they claimed the slap as "normal" and some lived but plenty were junked..I already know of a few...
hardcore racers buy small block cranks with big block snouts, thats not an option yet for the 5.0
I have a stock unit on my car,now I know for sure im not buying an aftermarket unit but I do run ATIs on our BBC drag engines
and have bought a dozen over the years as I build my own drag engines...
cranks snap,I have seen it happen on stock stuff and high end racing cranks.
Cant ever blame one thing, sometimes they just crack or in the casting process have
hairline cracks
If it happened to me id build a new bottom end and swap it in
use all forged shit too, nothing cast or powdered .
x2,I did mine at 1K and went to Synth.
That plastic drain plug is worrysome ,I would expect it to crack over time
so for me Id have a few on standby and swap a new one in every now and again
Nothing from Nitto... Wasted 2 years of my life on those NT05 tires worst junk ever
I moved to a Firestone Indy500 and it walks all over Nittos, handling, noise and even traction from the dig
Nothing dead hooks on the street except a true drag tire and even those need a burnout to get soft but...
detonation ..could be tune, ring seal, butting rings, fuel dist issue, lean or too rich
and if I had my engine apart I would add forged piston and upgraded rings
This is all in an effort to save money,if they just built these motors
like a perf motor should we would be golden...Early Cobra motors for instance
kicked ass, they came from Ford with good parts and even forged pistons,THIS is
what all mustang GTs and GT350 should be like.
I got the firestones ,coming off dreadfully bad NT05s
I could not be happier...and while I was going to get the
Michelins the savings was hard to pass up, reviews do not
lie the Firestone Indy500s are a winner
RPM belt blew off my car today after a year......luckily I had a spare in my trunk and some tools but its not really impressive
Whipples website shows a shorter 102" belt and not the K061066 which makes things even more confusing
I ordered a new K061066 for the car, since thats what came with my kit
go to a tire shop u like and leave ebay behind, its still the same
hassle its always been ,guys selling junk.
Go check out the Firsetones Indy500s.they are priced right and stick
like no bodys buisness
