I just do it. When the revs start dropping, I follow them with the gears. If at some point I want to apply power, I want the transmission in the correct gear for the speed range.
I would think that test mules get subjected to every possible variation of optional equipment and engineering prototypes that the engineers, with their twisted, devious minds, can throw at them.
Speaking of Longview, Wa. I drive down from Lake Stevens, Wa every few weeks. I don't use I-5, I go on the back road highways along the west side of the Cascades. There are more than a few hairpin turns in those hills and I occasionally find a good stretch of road with no traffic.
Took the right front wheel and splash guard off and ran the sensor wire through the firewall at the big grommet. Everything else is in the passenger compartment. Works as intended. I feel better about curbs now.
Did the Curb Alert install. Drove the front up on ramps, then jacked up the right side further to make room for a jack stand.
Pulled the right front wheel and the wheel well splash guard.
After fishing the sensor wire from the front bumper, into the engine compartment, then down into the wheel...
