. Interesting...everything I have read states the same, German specifications and designed manufactured in China and installed on a US/Canadian/Mexican parts provided and US assembled product (what a lineage) that is also exported to Europe and Australia
haven't had much time to drive lately...been more away than home as of late. Hoping early September to do some car cruising. A photo shoot would definitely be on my list!
Yes you are absolutely right. The Motorcraft product change to QDC is based on use in all weather conditions as opposed to using other products that may or may not work as well during very cold weather operations (I'd love to use Amsoil but it may be too thick here during the winter months)...
Ordered it from the dealer June 2014, received at dealer December 5th 2014...have only had a chance to drive it about 1.5K since (bad winters, overseas, etc) but I am very satisfied with it...fit and finish is excellent, handles much better than my last pony (2009 GT), and has a lot more power...
I went with the (recommended) Motorcraft Dual Clutch Transmission fluid (QDC) and XL-18 Additive primarily due to it gets too damned cold here in the winter to consider using Amsoil or BG (which are exceptional as well). Changeover to the Motorcraft and XL-18 has been fine!
the way they talked, they were more impressed with the MT82 than the T5 and T56...claimed the MT82 with a proper fluid change and proper clutch swap is a very good tranny! I was quite surprised (could the weak link actually be the stock clutch package as well as the fluid?)
Just rolled over 1500 miles (after owning my GT with PP since early December 2014 (deployments and harsh winters have kept it garaged a lot) and decided to change the oil as well as gearbox fluid (manual MT82 Chinese assembled Getrag) and differential lube due to the car sitting off and on. Ford...
I didn't believe it until I read the article but there are actually folks and tuners who LIKE the MT82! In the September issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, the tech guys do a clutch swap on their project 2011 with MT82 and actually talk positive about it! Seems like a change to AMSOIL 5w30...
putting weird "badges" on vehicles is the "norm" here in the Middle East (nothing like seeing a Camel with a German "Kompressor" logo painted in it's ass)!
Question: I am considering a Centrifugal Forced Induction system and have heard equally good things about Vortec and Procharger systems with the one negative being the Procharger 90 degree fitting and induction tube that has been known to "collapse" during pulls. Conversely, I have not heard of...
Geeze...next time I initiate a thread I think I'll insure its more user friendlly...perhaps a lively simple discussion about the use of chemical polymers versus drag coefficients!
Great pics and videos everyone! Wonder if Law Enforcement will be purchasing some of these as strictly interceptors (like Texas and California did in the eighties with the old LX 5.0 Mustangs)? I hope not!!
Todd...any idea where that may be posted? Folks, the entire reason I started the thread in the first place was simply because since 2011, there have been other forum chats with regards to this topic and from the S197 5.0 engines until now, they have (for the most part internally) been basically...
thanks Jetman...reviewed the chart (again) and you're right (been a long hitch here in the Middle East)! Interesting though that again other mustang forums do talk of this and there are varied differences of opinion. Still, you cannot argue with available facts and figures so I stand (humbly)...
what did I say? I said GT to include track apps...guess I should have been more specific. Apparently this topic has been beat to death on other previous Mustang forums too and the general consensus seems to be "if you want better MPG and you just drive under "normal" conditions, then 5W20 is...
