It always seems like that to people who've never run it. If it was an even bigger pain in the ass (its not in the first place), I would still run it. Just on the stock turbo, E30 or an aux fuel kit tuns these things into monsters from light to light.
The power bump of going from 93 to E30 is insane. From 91 its gotta be nuts. You have to remain diligent about it, however. Test your E85 station every couple months or season because the batches definitely can change and mess up your calculations without even knowing it. Don't let a batch of it...
Its thin due to the trace amounts of fuel and water that are also in the mix. Oil separators have always worked. The debate arises when it comes to the long term benefits and if someone is going to keep their vehicle long enough to care if that shit gets shot back through the motor. To me its...
Excessive negative corrections like more than 2 degrees of timing being pulled consistently. But if in California you may see that often due to the limited availability of higher octane gas. I would monitor OAR as well to make sure your ECU has learned the quality of fuel you're running in the...
Boost (Must have)
Ignition Corrections #3 (Must have)
Charge Air Temp
Oil Temp
AFR
Coolant Temp
Those are my 6
Coolant temp can be read out on the gauge cluster. Oil temp also has a readout on the cluster but the AP can give you an actual temp reading, which I like.
It wasn't until I swapped wheels in my garage that I really noticed it. The new ones I had to put on were flow-formed and only 24lbs. The PP wheels were a joke by comparison.
OTS are made for convenience and low risk variance bc they are designed to work for all engines of a certain model range. If you truly want to mod, they should be nothing more than a stopgap on your way to a custom tune. In my personal opinion, for someone with as many mods as you, it makes more...
This isn't the 90's where just a downpipe would give you 20 horsepower over night. You will need a tune. The PCM will have no idea what's going on and why the WGDC and boost targets are so out of whack and will pull timing and back you off every time. That said, once tuned, a DP makes a big...
Once you add any power, even the 255 Pirelli's won't lay any power down. I know my Firehawk Indy 500's are damn good tires for the money. I wanted a square setup and I think 275 were the biggest I could go all the way around. I wanted to rotate my tires and didn't want any under steer from a...
I toyed with this question a lot as well before I was pro tuned. Never found out. I found it more of a hindrance and even borderline dangerous when I tried to experiment with it. Pulling out into traffic or merging on the highway in Florida was fun in that, "Oh shit, I forgot I have no power,"...
Wait, is this all going to be mated up to a stock downpipe? If so, then I would get what you think would sound/look good instead of worrying about robbing power. The power difference in exhaust diameter is really peanuts until you move to a 3" dp. After that you have a ton of options. You can do...
The problem starts with detonation in the cylinder. Wherever the block cracks is simply that force following the path of least resistance. The 'weak spot' in the block thing is, well the whole carriage is crappy. @Juben is a very knowledgeable poster and drops some very good info related to this...
You mean cylinder 3? I would always watch it regardless of mods. The AP let's you monitor up to 6 parameters so you can watch 'Ign. Corr.' for all four cylinders plus two other settings if you like.
Any good, local muffler shop can do everything you just asked for a couple hundred bucks. And if you ask me, 3" downpipes/midpipes necking down to 2.5" or even 2.25" out the back sounds better than any straight 3" system.
Is this an off the shelf tune? I believe its normal for the OTS tunes to pull timing like that. 2.00 or more degrees of timing pull is where you can start to look for problems and bad fuel. Also, if you're going to monitor a cylinder, make it cylinder 3.
Buy it along with a cheap 3" or 2.5" Vibrant resonator to go along with it and weld it up right after the downpipe. The resonator is cheap, non-restrictive and will tone down some of the drone or tractor characteristics most 3" exhausts have for this motor.
