If 91 octane was my only option for pump gas, I'd definitely explore an upgraded fuel system to run E85.
On a built motor, I'd feel more comfortable on gas, but on factory cast pistons....I'd run a VERY conservative tune with conservative timing.
And there's another metric that has yet to be recorded on this forum for the street car crowd, which I'd like to see the moderators track.
VBox 60-130mph times (GPS Guided for 100% Accuracy)
This provides nearly identical mph data to determine HP, for those that don't want to visit a drag...
I can appreciate and understand what they are attempting to bring to market.
I just don't personally see the market for it domestically.
You are looking for a unicorn buyer, IMO. I'm sure you will get some sales, but I can't see if being a profitable venture to sustain them long term.
I would...
And there-in lies the data that actually counts.
Throw away the peak numbers, simply compare what you started with....and where you ended up.
That's all that really matters.
Go to the track, see what it runs, and that will give you an idea on how you compare with the rest of the builds...
Dude, don't get me started, lol.
There's going to be some people severely upset when they get drug down the highway on a Saturday night, after bench racing dyno graphs.
Especially those comparing different dynos, different types of dynos, different weather, different altitude, different...
I'm glad you made this post, as so many people make buying decisions off dyno data.
A timeslip is hard to argue, so if I'm a consumer, I'm making my buying decisions off whose packages are physically performing and putting up hard data.
The dyno is just a tool.
I tell you what's interesting...
I get phone calls every single day now from our current GTR customers....asking their GTR parts question, but also inquiring about our TT Mustang development.
These customers are interested to watch the shop car progress, as they are interested in possibly...
The CobraJet isn't street legal and doesn't come with a VIN # to my knowledge, so it can't be registered.
This is, so for the person hunting a 1000whp capable street car, this feels a niche.
Perhaps, though I own both and know several GTR guys interested in the S550 for a cheaper race platform to build. (The GTR at Full Bolt On level is affordable, anything else can be cost prohibitive for many.)
Not everyone who owns a GTR is loaded. There are LOTS of people making $1,000 + car...
In their defense, 1000whp with built motor and drivetrain is impossible at $80k w/ warranty.
I know what I've got in our car and I'm around that, without the interior and exterior additions they are including. (And there's no warranty here.)
It does add quickly and if the car performs, I think the asking price is fair with warranty.
I'd still want performance data before I spend more cash than I could buy a used F430 or Gallardo for.
Just my $.002, it's zero shot at them.
I respect anyone who brings something to market, but for over $100k there's no dyno data or timeslips provided?
Tough pill to swallow for $100k.
It's not a $300 cold air intake we are discussing.
To me, that sounds like tuning....purely software. Perhaps you can take the car to Manny and let him experience this himself.
That's not an issue I have with our car, which is solid going down the 1320. It shifts really smooth under power.
My concerns right now are strictly hardware related...
