I use this. much safer (no chance of 7LB fire extinguisher becoming a projectile in a crash), much lighter (1/2 LB vs. 7LB for a 5LB extinguisher), longer lasting (no expiration, 50 seconds instead of <10 seconds) and cheaper (no $100 mount).
80% of our w2w race series now uses these instead of...
my buddy runs -4, and it isn't enough for WSIR, still cords outside.
this corded tire have already seen 3 track days / 10 track sessions and 1,000 street miles. lasted about the same as OEM SC2.
3R is great !! lot cheaper than SC2 and I would say a tad more consistent, I prefer it over SC2.
this was a heavy braking track (worst of all the tracks in the west, 3 braking zones all sheds off 75-100mph). at Willow Springs Raceway, outside treads corded within 2 sessions (with -3.5 camber) on a brand new tire. So it is a balance thing, very track oriented.
toe is zero. it is a strut...
I disagree. there are 7 of us (Supermiata racers) that owns and track GT350/R. depending on track, car setup and driver skill, using a tire pyro, best front camber is anywhere from -2.5 to -3.5 for a car that see track duty . -2.5 is okay for a car that's only tracked once per year, any more...
We've always turned off AdvanceTrak. it is really intrusive......
although we all run "track mode", a couple of us run "normal steering", I run "comfort steering". "track steering" is just way too vague (PS3/xbox)..
not fair comparing GT to a GT350R. GT350R has SC2. tires are the biggest factor on tires. put the GT on winter tires, I bet it will get destroyed by every car.
you should leave BMR at max, as it still won't be enough.
if you are on SC2, tire easily lasts 5-10k miles on street, but will last only 2-4 track days if you push it hard. so street miles is least of my concern (unless it is your commuter), setting up tire wear for track > street, imho...
that's my teammate driving - 949racing during Global Time Attack. Came in 4th in a 15 car field with basically a stock R (talking about bringing a knife to a gun fight), as it is a GT350 with R mods.
I did drive a couple of GT350 before this, all of us were cording outside of the tires...
There are a group of us here is California that races in SuperMiata. 6 of us have a GT350.
it sounds like you are a fast driver, I can assure you factory number is not CLOSE to optimal. that guide is for a track noob that's doing 10+ second of what the car can do.
Front will need between -3...
unfortunately, motels are the best you are gonna get near the track. Bakersfield is a little too far.
since this is a 1 day event. There are more hotels further north (Harris RAnch) and south (near Grapevine), on your way to the track.
me ? mine is a gray GT350R. 949racing car is orange.
26s is definitely doable with better line through T9 and more camber on driver side (-3.5 isn't enough, it needs a little more than -4).
I see you are not local, probably don't know the track that well.. T9 is a decreasing radius turn...
SA usually have smaller eye port. And is designed for multiple impact (in a roll over). And like you said, fire retardant material. That’s the 3 differences.
