I'm pretty sure the spring does the opposite of what you're saying. Doesn't it push the pedal down to lessen pedal effort? The only reason there is more play if you lift up is because the spring isn't there pushing down anymore.

Can't speak for the 350, but my GT primes the fuel system as soon as I press the clutch.

It wasn't hard for me. Just took a few minutes with a cordless drill. I held the shift knob in one hand drill in the other. Same with the tap, just checked it in the drill and went a little at a time.

I highly recommend the MGW but don't recommend the ball type shifter knobs. They take away from the shifter quality. I was, and still am blown away by the changes in feel going from a shit ball to the GT350 knob.
