  1. Going to first autocross

Also, it might appear there are groups/cliches when you get there, but that's just people having a good time pre-event. Everyone was a newb once and almost everyone is very willing to help the new guy/gal. Just don't be shy.
  2. Official: AutoX/HPDE/Road Racing Discussion Thread

There are some things in a PP I would want for ST (radiator for pros, K bracing). While the 3.73s would hurt, you could raise the rev limiter to compensate for some of it. The real problem would be the best potential class, STP, in draft doesn't allow for 2015+. Now CAM would be fun, even if...
  3. Going to first autocross

I think this is the best starting place for someone like you: http://www.sccastartingline.com/resources.php Then read the tips about pressures and what not.
  4. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Thanks Dennis. Good to know the real world weight savings. I doubt the summit X is any lighter at all than your H, might even be heavier and I don't have any scales at home after I quit karting. Also glad to know it sounds fine even with LTH and HFCs, that's exactly my goal is something...
  5. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Ended up going with Summit stainless. Debated on Lethal's and Ford's but Sam talked me into trying the Summit. Like you I wanted more sound but not necessarily loud enough for the neighbors to notice, they already notice the other car when I go to work at 5:30am. Plus weight savings is around...
  6. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Exactly how I feel. Plus even the questions I could answer makes me think about the answer which is a good thing. Got all my parts to do all the strut/shock conversions...except the gland nuts are too small. Gotta work with Sam to figure out what happened so this weekend will be just rear...
  7. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

You also had the additional negative camber in the front. That helps a bit. Typically general car forums are horribly off about autox setup and the guys that know better get drowned out by those that simply like to post more often. Right now you have a rare time where I see several experienced...

  9. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Thanks for the well wishes. After a dismal showing in STX last year I'm hoping to at least go a bit deeper in the trophies this year. I did see that thread on tSB, I've ordered that air hammer attachment from that thread which arrives tomorrow. I tried some tricks I know on Sunday and...
  10. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

I suspect Chris has since he seems to have experimented a lot. Was your front camber stock is what I meant to ask? I don't know if I'll have time to dremel the 2mm out of the fronts in time for Saturday.
  11. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Thanks Steve! That's a little more than 1/8" total toe-in, about what I expected. Thanks for the starting pressures for the Pirellis. I'm not sure what my OE camber was set to, plan is to run it as is in the rear and then changed based on this weekend. I'm hoping to have the camber done but...
  12. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Do you happen to know the specs on the non-PP bars? I see they have different part numbers. Usually the answer is larger front bar but without driving one, and the fact the PP seems to want a large rear bar you'll just have to test. I was adamant to try a larger front bar first but Sam talked me...

  14. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

I haven't tried yet because.... I got my car today. Loving it as expected. Everything is on order now, tires won't show up for about two weeks though so first event will be on the OEMs.
  15. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Yes and thanks to you for documenting it.
  16. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Do them myself. The small bit of welding required I'll have a friend do. Everything else seems to be easily done in a home garage.
  17. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

That happens to nearly everyone that starts autocrossing. They have the wrong car (you are quiet close though) and then either keep modding it, run it as is, or sell for an ideal car later. If you are new to autox, just prep for FS and enjoy. It will take a bit before the difference between a PP...
  18. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

You can only run 18x8.5/19x8.5/20x8.5 to be legal for Street (+/-7mm in offset). I don't have a lot of experience pinching tires on 19" plus wheels that aren't Hoosiers. On the 2016 WRX we put 275/35/18s on 18x8.5 last week and they fit but took some work from the tire shop to get the bead to...
  19. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

The RE71R put down power better than any other tire. Then add in they have grip as good as anything else, work well cold, and wet so it's pretty much the clear tire choice I've run in the last year (Z2*, RS3v2, RE71R). For you you could probably squeeze a 265 but 255 is safer on a 8". What rear...
