In that North American used it first for the P-51, it seems like they would have right to it over Ford. Further, it would be pretty stupid of Ford to fight over the name with a company that supplied the planes that helped us win the war. :shrug:

Has to be urban legend. The P-51 "Mustang was introduced in 1942 for WWII, and was probably, in some part, responsible for the Ford Mustang name some 22.5 years later.

Does it REALLY matter if it's off of the Ford assembly line? And you're seriously goung to compare Carroll Shelby's company with Roush & Saleen? Shelby is who started all of this!
