the strap goes through the cabin. There is no frame on the door. that means the strap will be between the roof and the window. Good way to have your window go up incorrectly and shatter. Those straps are meant for doors with frames around the window to prevent contact with the glass.

Fell asleep watching the first episode, and wasn't impressed with most of what I saw. The old Top Gear USA wasn't that bad after the first season. What are some quality car shows on TV? Right now there isn't anything that is must watch like the old Top Gear UK. Even 5th Gear was a solid show.
